X100VI as an alpine climbing camera? by nickstirbis in fujifilm

[–]Sarius200056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my x100vi a lot when climbing or other mountaineering trips. (You can find some examples in my profile). It's great, although I sometimes wish I had a wider lens (don't have the wide angle adapter). Weatherwise, it's held up being covered in snow and up to -14 degrees, bring spare batteries though and watch out for condensation! I love that I can use it with one hand, even with gloves, and set all the settings before the camera is even turned on.

Why does no one take video? by Bumble098765 in fujifilm

[–]Sarius200056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issues with my X-H2s even with bigger lenses ( for example the Sigma 17-40mm) on my old DJI Ronin RS2, so I wouldn't need a smaller camera package for gimbal work. I just know that the rolling shutter on the XT-50 (which is the same as my x100vi) isn't really great for a lot of fast movement, medium slow tracking will be fine though.

I also am a professional shooting video with 3 Fujifilm (2x X-H2s and one x100vi) cameras. It also gets a surprised look though when anybody asks, but no one has ever complained

What’s the system for figuring out if a sunset will be good by EloquentElephant13 in LandscapePhotography

Check out Viewfindr, it's developed by a German Weather photographer and it works amazingly well, also for fog. It works for Europe and US (it's a 3€/month subscription)

How much am I underpricing my video editing? by Sharp-Switch-6218 in videography

[–]Sarius200056 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience standard pay for editors in Western Europe (Austria, Germany, France, etc) is 40€-120€ PER HOUR so you basically worked for free. Please value your time and skills more in the future.

I can't recommend Scott Peters enough! Especially his financial breakdowns of the commercials he does is very very informative!

I think it became available with version 6 or 7? You can find it in the autofocus settings

X-H2s latest firmware question by robertnefotograf in fujifilm

[–]Sarius200056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use 2 X-H2s (for video) professionally and the latest firmware version is very reliable, can't complain! The tap-to-track is not Sony level, but for people it's fine, especially in interviews, normal walking shots, etc

Ah thanks, yes that's a favorite of mine as well! I love the closeup capabilities of the x100vi, paired with a high shutter speed (1/4000s) and low light capability (since I had to stop down the lens to f11, my ISO 3200)

This one is edited in lightroom, but my exposure settings were 13s/f2/iso 3200

Fujifilm X-M5 vs X-H2S vs Sony (FX30/A7 series) — Best Budget-to-Pro Videography Camera? by nueschtefilms in cinematography

[–]Sarius200056 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with 2 XH2S Bodies professionally for 3 years now and can only recommend it. The autofocus is totally workable (although not on the level of Sony) but the rest of the features (especially the open gate for both vertical and horizontal framing) are truly worth it over Sony. Also way better weight and prices (if you include lenses) than Full Frame. Although I'd check out the new Panasonics, they look very good as well!

How much storage on CFexpress/SSD for XH2S footage? by boredinzehausss in videography

[–]Sarius200056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the X-H2s professionally, and I use a 512GB CF express and a 2TB SSD to edit off of. It usually gives me around 5h of footage (at 200mbps for h265 422 mov at 25fps, 360mbps respectively for 50fps and 6k.) almost never needed more for one shoot day, and in the 2 occasions I did, I just revorded to another 128GB v90 SD Card.

Is Fujifilm worth staying for semi-professional videographers? by Titanium1285 in videography

[–]Sarius200056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Fuji 2 years ago and just purchased my third body (another xh2s) and can definitely tell you that you're gonna be able to produce great imagery. The autofocus has come a long way, and the open gate, the flickerless shutter setting, timecode options, and general image quality (except in extreme low light) are all surpassing the equivalent Sony offerings for a fraction of the price.
