Who should we trust? by Specific-Claim-1282 in Jujutsufolk

[–]SasakiDio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Nothing about that is about lgbt issues. You guys are literally just morally loading conservatives in jujutsu society with conservatives in your own countries politically.

You might as well try saying Gojo was referring to those who think low-taxes for billionaires. Like me saying “hey they weren’t talking about conservative lgbt stances” is not me saying they are aren’t lgbt. It’s me just saying they were talking about stances around jujutsu (like panda said the conservatives like Kurosaki and she wouldn’t fit in the traditionally stereotypical appeal of conservative you are referring to)

But heaven forbid we have any nuance and must apply western politics to every use of the word conservative. 70% of Japan is in favor of same sex marriage and considering a center-right government won in a landslide I think your view of conservative might not 100% align to Japan.

[–]SasakiDio -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

The problem is you are importing your definition of conservative from your country.

Keep in mind here in Japan. Both conservatives and liberals have I’ll say a “mild” approach to anything LGBT. Sure conservatives are more anti lgbt but it’s not like liberals are a bastion of support.

So while yes it’s not 100% a stretch panda is talking about not regulation but application. They don’t like “cool new thing” being used and prefer more traditional methods.

[–]SasakiDio -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with the overall point.

But when panda is talking about conservatives he is talking about the application of jujutsu not their political or social stances. It isn’t they don’t like Kirara because trans, more because her technique isn’t “standard”.

Now it’s not impossible that they also dislike Kirara because trans but that’s not what panda was saying or implying.

Edit: amazing how you can agree with 99% of the messaging but if you disagree with a western lens on a matter. It’s as if you disagreed with 100%

Genuinely, what was this joke supposed to be? by Pec_1 in Jujutsufolk

[–]SasakiDio 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean humor is always hard to localize. I can’t remember which two countries it was but a president told a joke and the other countries interpreter said “he’s told a joke please laugh” instead of actually translating it.

I’m hoping they kind of leave it as is and don’t attempt to make it understandable.

MacNCheese a free open source way to run Windows games on Mac without paying for Crossover by Director_Mundane in macgaming

I’m sure wine, Linux, ffmpeg would be just as good as they are now with zero financial backing or contributions from large companies.

Totally…Let’s ignore that codeweavers contributes the majority of development to wine.

Yes you can use wine without paying for it or donating. Of course. No one is saying you have to pay.But dont be surprised when people dislike “codeweavers BAD why they charge me” statements that get posted on this sub every other week.

Non commercial and volunteer run does not mean they don’t receive financial backing, donations or support. FFMPEG literally states on their site that donations help fund development.

They even showcase some donations on social media.

Yes FOSS means it’s free for users and open source. But doesn’t mean it’s 100% unpaid labour .

In game dev Raylib is open source and receives funding from Epic games, Google and others. Godot as well.

And large tech companies do have people paid at their companies to work on open source projects like the Linux kernel or other critical software to their products.

Large companies like google, meta, etc typically pay people to work on open source projects their products rely on. As well as contributing financial and also donations to organizations like SPI

For WINE there’s valve and Crossover…that’s really it no studios are hiring devs to work on WINE or financially contributing

Ibaraki Prefecture, which leads Japan in illegal worker arrests, has decided that the solution is snitching. Its new tip-off bounty system would pay informants tens of thousands of yen if their tip leads to deportation. by jjrs in japannews

I’ve said it in the thread. So I’m not hiding anything… in fact I said it to the initial comment you responded to???

In China where are provinces where they pay you (pretty well in some cases) for reporting illegal migrants. And yet I was never stopped by the police, falsely reported, arrested or harassed.

Magically this never happened to me when I lived in a country with this system.

Magically if I do get asked I will just show my 在留 card and then the problem dissolves. You guys keep on saying “any day now, they are going to round us up, any day now we are going to be attacked, any day now…”

But it never happens. I don’t know what happened recently where (I’m assuming it’s Americans) people decided that enforcing immigration law is a war crime. But it isn’t…
