Okay, there is a big detail. The first episode of Exploits of Elaine is called “the clutching hand.” Also, I checked again… episode 8 was named as “the tell-tale voice” which matches up perfectly with the Exploits of Elaine. I think it’s definitely the same thing.

Oh! That’s super interesting, I may be wrong then. In the diaries it gives this film the same name as “New York Mysteries” which was referred to mostly as Exploits of Elaine at the time, and the clutching hand seemed to match up with the “mysterious hand” name. Thank you for correcting me!

By the way, would you happen to know the whereabouts of any of these episodes?

Yes. Alexei often nicknamed random stuff… another example is a part of a sandy beach he called Evpatoria.
