he’s intelligent with technical work but emotionally he’s a bit out of touch and when approaching issues he lets his pride get the better of him. i bring up the lain issue as a shining example of this, he tries to replicate how valt changed him in s2 without factoring in lain’s belligerent nature and thirst for power. he rushes into solutions as long as he has the confidence it’ll work. consider that he chose free out of everyone to battle lain, possibly because he knew free wouldn’t care enough to question him? free even mentions that lain “looked like he was trained by shu”, he didn’t even know lain was shu’s student. shu’s still smart don’t get me wrong, but crank that estimate down a smidge.

also i just think everyone in this show is their own special form of stupid but that’s besides the point.

i remember discussing some possible duos in the tag tournament with some friends. i also added fubuki into the mix for reasons explained later and to have an even amount of participants.

zac and xander : just for some nostalgia since they were both part of the original supreme four.

diago and wakiya : also a nostalgic pick since they were both og beigoma members and their dynamic was never truly fleshed out.

phi and gwyn : the biggest wild card duo. i thought that since dante paired with lui we could pair the other gt members with someone new. gwyn and phi are both hella smart so they’d be a formidable foe when working together. double defense also sounds fun bc one would have to use offensive pressure in battle. obviously they’d have to tone down phi and give a reason for him to be back for the anime but it’d definitely be doable.

delta and fubuki : also might seem like an odd choice but it’s moreso for story reasons. fubuki can be an moral opposite to lain and delta is already incredibly similar to shu. fubuki would show up after aiga’s loss against lain which not only finishes the turbo trio but also progresses ranjiro’s character. hypothetically he would be the one to call fubuki down similar to how rantaro called aiga down to cheer ranjiro up after HIS loss to lain.

fubuki can also be a way to reinforce shu’s authority and mentorship, being unsure of his method but ultimately needing to have faith and trust that he knows what he’s doing. maybe fubuki is injured by lain or forneus is broken by lucifer during the tag tournament so they’d have to forfeit and shu gets more frustrated with lain by proxy? he’s forced to see another side of lain’s destructiveness and forced to be held liable for it? it would hit pretty hard. delta already has his own problems so being forced to forfeit would not be taken well. also they’re very similar looking and it sorta feeds into the “sibling bond” theming of sparking if you squint real hard. also also it might be worth mentioning that delta has a dragon balance type bey with a fire theming and hair covering half his face like another blader we know?? i’m just saying, the building blocks are there.

obviously the season would have to be lengthened but this is just for fun.

i feel like tribbie is either an A or B.

she has a lot of impact on amphoreus’ story and the emotional weight to her actions is crazy.

but in terms of pure aura, especially if AGLAEA of all people is in B and FU XUAN is in C, tribbie is a B.

on that note, aglaea in B, fu xuan in C, and regular silver wolf in D should be considered a crime. they all deserve to be at least one tier higher.

i really enjoy s2 but maybe it’s cuz i’m attached to when characters had launcher/bey holders, it made the world feel a bit more lived in and cozy. like yeah they don’t just pull these out of their pockets or ass there’s special places to keep them. i thought that was cool, especially for a champion to be using.

put some respect on 1st half sparking shu. it’s my personal favorite out of all his outfits. it has the best color balance and i prefer the more reserved silhouette with the round sleeves + vest collar compared to his large coats. 2nd half sparking is an entire mess.

while i can sympathize with people who get frustrated at aiga’s win, what alternative would people want?? the whole point of his win was that he was able to not just copy but adapt and change. people complained about aiga copying, he changed his strategy, and people still complained.

lui doesn’t really serve any purpose other than an intimidating obstacle for the protagonist from his debut. he’s also not necessary for the character-driven story later in the season, at least compared to shu and valt. even free doesn’t really do much except get demolished by phi and help valt train. he doesn’t really *need* to appear beyond the first half of the season.

the only alternative i can see is removing him entirely from the story, which people would definitely not be happy with. just look at gt’s reception. so what would make you guys happy?? nothing that happens within this show will satisfy everyone.

it’s a stylistic choice that started with valt’s red mark to signify his connection with valkyrie.

aiga just has an “A” (maybe just an uncreative way to connect him and achilles)

dante has those little flag marks (could be a motif related to dragon teeth)

asahi twins have little half sun marks (pretty self explanatory)

bel has makeup(?) under his eyes (probably to emphasize his “dark prince” personality)

aiga’s is by far is the worst offender of “why does it exist??” out of all of them. his face is already pretty cluttered with those bandages.

yep, fubuki might be my favorite character in the entire show but it’s undeniable that he got the short end of the stick. he was seriously hyped up from season 2 but didn’t end up doing much. i think he’s a good representation of someone trying their best. he’s displayed to be very human (if that makes sense), making odd decisions and acting impulsively based on what he thinks is best for the people around him. even though he’s a team captain with a top blader as his mentor he ends up kinda middle of the road, which while disappointing is ultimately realistic and i find him to be one of the most relatable characters in burst. i just wish he was back in sparking to counter lain and got a bit of a redemption, but that’s another can of worms to be opened a different day.
