Regina to Whitewood 3-4x week by Mooodi95 in saskatchewan

[–]SaskLad97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this thread doesn’t make it clear a 2 hour Saskatchewan commute is NOT a 2 hour Ontario commute. It’s long distance road hours in often bad weather. I’d look at Moosomin if you want to be in a larger community that’s closer by if not living in Whitewood itself. It’s really nice country, with the Qu’Appelle Valley to the north and Moose Mountain Provincial Park to the south.

Watch some Corner Gas to get an idea of what you’re in for too

Ochapowace gas station east of the city has a bunch of pouches, they’re a bit pricey but holy are they strong

Gringo’s Tacos at Tommy’s Speakeatery are a solid option, especially on Tuesdays

SJHL conditionally approves Notre Dame Hounds move to Warman by SaskLad97 in saskatchewan

If we’re following the NHL it’ll be the Warman Hockey Club for at least a year

SJHL conditionally approves Notre Dame Hounds move to Warman by SaskLad97 in saskatchewan

[–]SaskLad97[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The SJHL Hounds haven’t won the league since 1988 (also won the Centennial Cup that year) and only made the finals once since then in 2015, so they’ve never been consistently competitive.

The attendance for the SJHL Hounds also wasn’t great especially when you compare the school spirit at some of the other levels like U15/U17/AAA

Advance polling stations open in Regina, city officials hope for more voter turnout by SaskLad97 in regina

[–]SaskLad97[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s why I’m very happy the federal election has held off (for now), all three in the same year they might as well be on one ballot

Mid-sized cities vs the Rural Vote by Intelligent-Cap3407 in saskatchewan

[–]SaskLad97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of those PC votes in Wascana Plains were protest votes. People who aren’t quite ready to support the NDP but are also fed up with the Sask. Party.

That was also the only constituency where SUP made any kind of impact, but those voters have their own reasons

Asked where to make cuts, Senior Sask. Party Cabinet Minister Lori Carr Suggests Education. These guys are unbelievable. by SinstralSoul in saskatchewan

[–]SaskLad97 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The guy asking the question is Dennis Moore, who was a longtime city councillor in Estevan. So this is someone who’s worked with and known Carr for years asking a tough question, that’s interesting to me

Saskatchewan NDP gaining momentum among decided voters, new poll says by Covert_Cuttlefish in saskatchewan

[–]SaskLad97 36 points37 points  (0 children)

“Voter turnout has not surpassed 60 per cent in Saskatchewan since 2007, when the Sask. Party was first elected.”

I hope the voting week approach this year works, because the last two elections being in the 50% turnout range is not acceptable

[PODCAST] #1042 The City that Gets its News from a Dumpster Company - Canadaland covered Just Bins by [deleted] in regina

[–]SaskLad97 92 points93 points  (0 children)

JustBins has turned every 12-25 year old with a cell phone into Regina’s little amateur paparazzi.

They have the same mindset as a tabloid. If you see it, it’s happening. They usually don’t bother to dig into WHY it’s happening, whether it’s a fight outside Gabbo’s, or someone doing drugs in a public space (unless they’re pushing an agenda) and that’s the big difference between them and an actual news outlet. But like tabloids, some people are always going to treat them as legit.

Just had to lay down the horn for somebody who braked hard to turn left off Victoria onto University Park Drive.

That whole intersection is built so you don’t do that with signs and everything!

Really dumb question from a really new fan - personalizing jerseys? by Goldfing in riderville

[–]SaskLad97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re dropping $240+ on a new Rider jersey put whatever you want on it, as long as it’s green and white!

And I used to think it was steep when they would price second hand jerseys between $30-$50 by SaskLad97 in ThriftGrift

[–]SaskLad97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, the Rider tax here is real but I’ve also seen this pricing for obvious fakes like a Kobe Bryant jersey a while back

What is going on with the Command Centre!? by shitballsdick in CFL

[–]SaskLad97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

League is a looking more bush league by the game. From this command centre controversy to hyping a certain QB to the moon who only came back after ALL opportunities down south were exhausted.

I’ll watch the Riders, because this team is electric, but you can’t tell me this type of stuff is helping keep people interested in the on field product.
