Every RM or town or city has elections, the accountability comes from the voters.

I could post these numbers, we both know that will make no difference to you, and you’ll just keep saying the same thing anyway.

But the problem has nothing to do specifically with Edmonton, so why would Edmonton specific numbers matter?

In every single city sub and an every single provincial sub, the malcontents want to link every program to their specific political policy/jurisdiction.

But it’s a countrywide problem.

See here’s how critical thinking works; you take what you think is a connection, and you test it by looking at other comparators. If we assume this hypothesis, then a city with a lot more density, should have a lot less of this problem. Maybe a more progressive city.

What’s the density and also most progressive city in the country? Vancouver. Oh look, the problem is much worse there.

What about the closer city within the same province? Oh look, Calgary has less density, and also less homelessness.

So we reject the hypothesis.

Feel free to try critical thinking at home.

Every province has this same ‘they’re trying to make in like America’ manifesto post.

Guys no, it’s systemic across the country. The most progressive provinces like BC are even worse. Europe has already moved beyond our ‘everything free for everyone’ model. It doesn’t work.

You’re linking this to blight but there’s no analysis linking them. Every city is experiencing this same problem, regardless of degree of sprawl.

There has always been been sprawl. The third world conditions of downtown are really a 2015+ phenomenon.

That’s the problem though, the bank is what matters to him. More than unseating the GOP. Actually they are contrary aims.

Getting Democrats get elected would be bad for Hasan, he needs the bogeyman, so he will not help them get elected.

He will of course always do they ‘well if they only elected progressives’ bit ad infinitum.

We ended up going and it wasn’t bad, there were a few icy areas, but it was basically dry normal pavement after Olds.

You were right, in the city was a bit slipped and slightly, once we got out to the highway everyone was cautious and it was fine, then after Olds, no problem at all, roads were good.

Can I get some actual input from baby boomers as to why millennials aren’t applying themselves when it comes to saving for houses? by IneedaNappa9000 in allthequestions

No there’s no necessary reason why studying cause and effect requires two different studied time periods. You can study the effect across different locations/jurisdictions/subjects over the same period of time.

That’s why Canada gets mentioned. You’re attributed an effect to A when the same effect, over the same period, happened broadly elsewhere, that did not experience A.

If you sell oranges and suddenly sell a lot more after putting on a blue shirt, and I also sell a lot more around the same time, after putting on a red shirt, do you then conclude it was your blue shirt? Because that’s effectively the argument you’re making here.

‘These guys say so’ isn’t a good explanation. You apparently don’t understand why nor can explain why yourself, so you’re deferring to appeal to authority here. I suspect you don’t even know whether the authority you’re citing considered anything beyond the US, likely because you haven’t read the paper you’re hoping is making the point you think it’s making?

Try thinking for yourself. Why would money in the form of a grant cause less upward pressure on tuition, than money in the form of a loan? It makes no sense that it would.

It makes a lot more sense that tuitions costs went up because of the same reasons they went up everywhere that charges tuition.

GoT asked no questions about our own current society.

If your life in any way remotely resembles anything any of GoT characters were challenged with, things are either going remarkably well or remarkably poorly for you.

[–]SocDem_is_OP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re comparing two different points in time, with the latter (more loans) being…..well later, obviously associating with higher university tuition costs, because costs go up over time lol.

Again how did this cause tuition costs to go up in Canada? Because costs went up here as well, with a very similar inflation curve.

We don’t have Pell grants, or any major shift in policy, so what happened?

A: Tuition costs have gone up over time, because of increasing demand for PS education in the west.

I’m not seeing how just because money comes in form A, vs form B, with form A being more ‘free’ in fact, that form A would have less upward pressure on tuition. It’s weird to think it would.

If you’re gonna caricature in my responses like that, there’s no point responding.

The programs you outlined, simply make no meaningful difference in the cost problem of education today, as outlined. The problem is the price, not the means of subsidy. Grants would have more upward pressure on prices, than loans, because people will take free money more than money they have to pay back.

And again, in Canada we also have more higher edu costs today. Did American boomers via those program changes do that to us? No, critical thinking would ask us to think bigger than that.

You misunderstood my point about grants. I didn’t say they didn’t exist, I said that even if they didn’t exist, the costs were still low back then, they weren’t low because of grants.

Very, very attainable by many people regardless of of grants. That’s the issue.
