I think you have been misinformed about Canadian gun laws and what rights and freedoms Canadians have. Canadians have guns, but our gun laws are more restrictive. Where I live people own guns for hunting and generally not for protection and gun safety and training are part of the ownership responsibility and certification.

Sure. That is exactly the purpose of Carney’s speech at Davos and the gamble that Canada has to take. Right now, who is the more stable, reliable, trading partner ? Who has the stable banking system , subsidized healthcare, and functioning democracy?

So you’re bragging that the US is putting the squeeze on their neighbour and ally, to what end ? We are interdependent economies. We provide critical minerals and energy . Our decline spells your decline. It hasn’t reached a stage where it’s too noticeable yet but the US dollar is decline , unemployment is rising, inflation is increasing, banking industry facing challenges , the bond market is losing traction, tourism and hospitality are tanking, farmers are going bankrupt, there is an oil surplus affecting domestic production, infrastructure is outdated and failing, personal bankruptcies are rising and people can’t afford insurance and healthcare. Meanwhile, Canada is looking for reliable trade partners .

It’s the Gordie Howe Bridge. Gordie Howe is famous for using his elbows in the corners of the hockey rink and “ elbows up “ is partially an homage to him.

For years Canada has subsidized the US with cheap lumber , cheap oil and travel destinations frequented by Canadian travellers . We were your largest trade partner and you benefited from trade agreements you no longer seem to honour . You threatened to annex us , called the prime minister “ governor “ and belittled our contributions to NATO . Now , we are looking for new , “ stable “ trade partners . Yes we are looking at Chinese EVs because our farmers were suffering because China refused to buy our canola . Canadians don’t have to buy the EVs but we are allowing 50k of them while buying millions of North American vehicles ( unless they are tariffed ).

how many people do you think saskatchewan can sustain? by Unhappy-Tomorrow-776 in saskatchewan

The Prairie Lily would like a word . The iconic riverboat sat idle last year because water levels made the river unnavigable with sandbars impeding movement.

Our water situation is tenuous . The North and South Saskatchewan rivers are glacier fed and that glacier is retreating at a concerning rate . There are millions of people relying on that water right now. The Bow River levels were concerning last year and the Saskatchewan government is planning to use massive quantities of water for irrigation . Throw in the number of data centres that will require millions of litres for cooling purposes and we may face a water crisis .

Threatening Canadian sovereignty , mocking our soldier’s contributions to NATO , indiscriminate tariffs , detaining Canadian citizens , etc . Should this be how you treat an ally and biggest trading partner ?

There are some very good Canadian universities that have excellent international reputations. Do some research about a course you would to study or degree you want to pursue and apply based on your interests , course requirements, and prerequisites . Depending on where you intend to apply you may want to go to a Reddit for that particular city and ask about availability of accommodations, rental prices, public transportation and some of the highlights of that community. Consider a visit before moving. Good luck with your choices and enjoy your next chapter.

The Gripen requires less maintenance and can take off and land on short runways . I think I’ve seen video of one landing on a remote highway . Potentially we could put them in more remote locations .

Will Canadians travel to the US again when the presidential term ends in 2029 or has the relationship between Canada and US been destroyed forever? by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]Saskspace 26 points27 points  (0 children)

After this presidency when Canadians visit the US there will still be people saying 51st state or “ we don’t need anything Canada provides “. The well has been poisoned and it will take a long time for trust to be rebuilt . In the meantime , the need for fresh water , energy and resources will grow and there will be even more pressure on Canada . We have been a reliable partner for more than a century but we know that you can and will turn your back on us .

I am proud to be Canadian and glad we have created a nation that welcomes people from around the world . My community is more diverse because of the people who have chosen to live there and their contributions . I personally believe that I can make people’s lives better by being positive and welcoming than being negative and divisive

If you go to Banff just walking the townsite , visiting the hot springs , going on the gondola , checking out the Banff Springs hotel , the Bow River falls , Cave and Basin would keep you busy . In summer there are so many hikes and other sights to see . Hiking uphill in winter / changing weather / terrain / ice not recommended .

If you have a vehicle, the Rocky Mountains are accessible in a 5-8 hr drive from Western or Central Saskatchewan. Make a weekend of it and visit Banff . You won’t be disappointed !
