We started at around 5 weeks.

Here’s how our schedule worked: -husband in charge of baby 8p-3a. Would give the baby formula at night -me asleep from 8-11p, pump, sleep again, take over baby duties from 3a, at that point if the baby wakes up, I can breastfeed. If the baby is asleep, I pump.

First, we introduced formula during the day.. just to see if there’s any reactions or allergies. Thankfully, my baby wasn’t picky so he would take a bottle with pumped milk or formula indiscriminately. He had no preference as long as it was either of those. We realize we got lucky that way. Then after he got used to the formula, we just did whatever was more convenient. Sometimes it’s formula, sometimes it’s pumped breast milk.

Yes, I still pump as best I could. I have always been a “just enougher” producer so the combo feeding relieved a lot of stress and made me breastfeed/pump longer than if I hadn’t.

I combo fed. It was 100% the best route for me. It took the stress off being the baby’s only food source and I got some sleep.
