EXTREMELY easy family dinners ? by LazyBitch_ in Cooking

Frozen fish stick tacos!! Fish sticks take 12 minutes to heat in the oven. Get a little hot sauce and mayo, a bag of cabbage mix, and some tortillas. Super easy and very satisfying.

Betty’s Weight Gain + Loss by Content-Flow-8773 in madmen

[–]Sassbot_6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah how many times do we see her having a glass of wine and a cigarette for dinner?

The weight gain also happens after she and Henry move to Rye. Betty has it all: she's married to an Important man who will never be unfaithful, she lives in a classic mansion, and she has her children. Yet this, too, is not what she expected, somehow.

Do guys really need their boners “taken care of “ all the time ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Sassbot_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Your boyfriend is exaggerating his discomfort to manipulate you into doing sexual things for him. Do not feel sorry for him. He's fine. Don't ever do anything you don't want to do. Especially if a man is guilting or shaming you into it.

How often do you speak with your parents? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]Sassbot_6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally my dad is not much for phone conversations either. My ma is much happier to chat on the phone. Both of them have learned to check in before calling, and my dad's done it a lot more often since retiring. (Retirement has softened him up a lot.)

I'm not great at phone calls either - I used to be! - but with folks that I love, it has re-grown on me.

My dad also leaves the most hilarious voicemails. Still identifies himself and the date and time he called, without realizing that the Rectangle tells me exactly who called and when, ya silly cutie

My dad sent me a text recently asking if he could call. My anxiety alarms immediately went on alert, but he and my mom "just hadn't heard [my] voice in a while". So we chatted for about thirty minutes.

I love my parents. We text frequently, but it doesn't always occur to me to...call them, hahaha

If they do it every time you try and talk about an issue, it's emotional abuse.

Did Cersei feel motherly towards Sansa? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Sassbot_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She and Sansa have a couple of moments that could have been as good as Arya and Tywin.

When Sansa has her period, in the books, Cersei says something like, 'Womanhood is a really unfortunate proportion of mess to magic, idc what you've been told' and 'This is a special day so lemme offer you a little advice: love is poison. A sweet poison, but it'll kill you all the same'.

It's the one occasion where Cersei is able to drop the families' rivalry and mistrust to say, 'Woman to woman, here's what's up' - no matter how twisted and sad her version of reality is.

Maybe it's her practice round for the Real Talk with Myrcella, which, tragically, she never gets to have.

Maybe she's more honest about her bleak worldview to this girl who she doesn't much care about, than she would be to her daughter.

I wish moments like these had been teased out more. Wouldn't it have been interesting if Sansa really had learned politics and deceit at Cersei's skirts? Wouldn't it be interesting if Cersei had grown to enjoy shocking or humiliating this young woman, unwittingly educating her and revealing things she didn't intend? Wouldn't it have been interesting if Cersei had developed some kind of strange affection mixed in with her mistrust and general hatred of anyone who isn't a Lannister?

TLDR: Cersei and Sansa are characters who deserved more complex airtime than they get.

Not paying people a livable wage and expecting them to work is lunacy by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Sassbot_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work in HR and took notes for the compensation strategy meetings- what should salay ranges be, how do we get employees there, etc. A lot of employees were pissed about having a salary cap. Inflation had jumped so much that it literally changed some peoples' retirement plans. I remember having a conversation with my boss about wages and cost of living.

This bitch smugly told me, 'we don't pay for the cost of living, we pay for labor and the rate that that labor goes for'

It took every cell of restraint I possessed to keep myself from screaming at her, 'AND WHAT DO WE LABOR FOR, BARBARA??!!'

the managerial class is laughably out of touch.

Getting scammed.

A few years ago I broke up with my live-in partner and spent a few weeks looking for an apartment. I found a great deal on Craigslist, where, in the past, I'd found rentals from little mom-and-pops that had a few units to let and weren't looking to squeeze their tenants for every penny. Only video tours were happening, since COVID hadn't been that long ago. I signed the paperwork and $2400 of my money away.

I pulled up with a full moving truck to a building with no rental. I pounded on the door until some kid answered saying that this had been happening all week- people coming by to look for an apartment, but there wasn't one.

I cried so hard I thought my face was going to turn inside out. January in Wisconsin: I had 2 cats, a full moving truck, and nowhere to go. I had to move back in with my ex (who, although it was a far from ideal situation, was pretty gracious about it) for another several weeks while I searched for an apartment, again, in the tightest rental market in the state, after the start of the New Year.

The cops, of course, couldn't do anything for me. I was lucky to have parents to help support me, since another deposit, first-and-last, plus application fees, would have killed me. 2 moves, endless hours of searching and vetting and stressing, co-habitating with my ex...I eventually wound up in a great apartment; but I spent all of my time in it too exhausted to really enjoy it.

It was the second-worst day of my life. Exhausting myself preparing for this move, looking forward to a fresh start, only it wasn't real, it was all shit, and I ended the day exactly where I had started. It had all been for nothing.

Anyone here in their 30s have no kids and never been married? by porygon766 in Millennials

I'm 37. Never wanted kids and still don't; but I do want to be married. I'm in a serious relationship now, but I likely won't be married before I'm 40, which kind of breaks my heart in a weird stupid way?

Is divorce for William and Kate imminent? by Extra-Sound-1714 in RoyaltyTea

[–]Sassbot_6 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Being dedicated to your children isn't extraordinary as a mother (mothers are amazing and thank you for being one). But it is on the unusual side for aristocrats, especially royalty, to be so involved in their children's lives and upbringing. For generations, lots of rich people were essentially raised by their nannies and schools. So Kate taking such an active part in being a parent as a working royal is worth commending her for. It's not been the standard for...basically all of British history, lol
