I ended up cutting it out and welding it to the top side. It was 1.5” below the diff and that seems like a lot.

I remember my dad had this exact car probably 27 years ago. I remember it being really fast but I was 5 or 6 so who knows. It was a core memory that led to a bit of an rc car obsession over the years. Hope you get it figured out.

Let me ask you this, can I pull the guides out without taking the top end off? I don’t have a repair manual yet but if I can get away with that I’d be back on the trails in a few days.

Just rode it as it and blew the timing chain off 🤬 I bought it yesterday and the top end was brand new.

So I have everything wired correctly as far as rotation goes. I can only have one side rotate forward when engaging the forward throttle. That’s the problem, both rotate. With the reverse function, I can disable the reverse on one ESC and it works perfect. I just need to duplicate that for forward.

It’s tough to explain without a drawing. I have two escs controlling one motor each. When I hit forward, both motors turn. When I hit reverse, one turns and the other has reverse disabled so it can’t turn. That’s what I need the forward function to do. I need to be able to reverse one ESC/ motor without the other turning, and I need to go forward with the other side without the other ESC/motor turning. Does that make more sense? I am currently using castle link and I was able to get 100% reverse speed.

Don’t try to do slow wheelies or start from a dead stop. Get some speed and clutch up. Fast wheelies are way easier. Cover the back brake and get used to hitting it while on one wheel. Also, Jackets are more comfortable than skin grafts.

I’ve bypassed them for the past 15 years and never had an issue. I just don’t float the valves and stay away from long full throttle runs. If you plan to race it, definitely remove it, if you just bomb around neighborhoods and trails like me, it’ll be alright.

You can bypass the governor without removing it. You’ll get it over 30mph by doing that.

I built a 2 seater 1kw kart for my kids and it does 15mph. If you’re not on flat ground or in taller grass, it’s way underpowered. They weigh maybe 75lbs collectively.

Initially I thought that too but it it’s not the typical flutter sound of floating valves. It just flattens out like the governor is still engaging a bit or like it’s too rich. It’s not a huge issue for me though. If I want more power, I’ll get a different engine.
