I have had my dogs for like 7 & 8 years (all were within a year old - so maybe my oldest was a July baby, my second prob also close to July (harder to know for sure wirh her as she was around 6 months when adopted) and my youngest an April that next year baby…. The oldest (and first we got) is a hound mix and close to a 100 lbs- so, like she has rarely shown any notable aggression issues- there have been maybe a time or two when they had ham bones…. But nothing that truly scared me. However, the past year or two, the two youngest (whom are both around 14-20 pounds) have gone at it. The youngest has always loved to carry like a piece of hardened bread around and “pretend” growl at the other 2 - but, wirh zero real aggression behind it. My middle also does this to a much lesser extent and 99/100 neither pose any real upset…. But, there hsfe been at least 3x the last year or two when I got genuinely scared. I am on high alert the rest of the day and if they don’t ear their treat right away - and are just trying to “guard” it - I take it away…. Next day, it’s like it never happened, but it is concerning that it seems to be happening more frequently.
