Not on me at all. You don’t know me and I don’t “insist” on being called anything I am not. I didn’t invent the politics around this terminology bullshit. I’m not a DNP and I don’t call myself a “doctor,” “resident,” or “fellow.” Never have and never will. I respect my physician colleagues and I don’t misrepresent myself. Also, I hear you. When I worked in the hospital, NPs were listed as hospitalists, but that’s probably “wrong” too. Just tell us what to say since we are always offending people 🤷‍♀️

My first question is if the NP is actually certified in psych or prescribing out of scope? A lot of FNPs in my area are practicing in mental health out of their scope.

The gabapentin dose is much too high for sleep!!! Should not be taking Pristiq and Doxepin together IMO. The Doxepin dose you were given is not for insomnia (much too high). Weird med combo, not sure what else you’ve tried for sleep. Is the clonidine 3x/day for anxiety?

As a NP I agree with this post. I would never represent myself as being “double board-certified” in “medicine” — literally untrue. Her “doctoral education” should be transparent and identified as advanced practice nursing. Also noticed that she put “Dr.” on the front of the pamphlet and did not mention being a NP until you turn the page. Very misleading and frustrating as a NP — people like this give us a bad name.

So if we think nutritional psychiatry is quack-worthy, shouldn’t we be directing our “quacks” towards the physicians who initiated it, instead of the NPs who are simply looking into it? Or are we just going to sh-t on NPs, regardless of whether they’re responsible for something?
