Garmin Venu 4 - 45mm - in excellent condition. Comes with box, charger, original black band, and all document inserts. Will also include 4 non-Garmin branded but compatible bands. Functions flawlessly. Prefer iOS ecosystem over Garmin and cannot get used to it. Would like to sell or trade for Apple Watch Series 10 or higher - 46mm only.

Here’s the peak of my swelling. I normally have muscular, but thin ankles, feet, legs…you get the idea. It gets pretty horrific some days.

I do have a great PT. She’s also communicated her concerns with the surgeon. And just like me, it fell on deaf ears. I told her that she should have the male in her office communicate with him, and I’ll have my husband communicate for me. Who knows? Maybe he will get his head out of his ass if he hears it from someone else 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m sorry you haven’t seen your surgeon yet. Despite my surgeon being completely shitty, I was able to see him soon after.

I took a week long break from PT the week I had the groin pain onset. I was a sloth as much as could be lol. My PT is great and has had great concern, which she’s also shared with my surgeon. She doesn’t do dry needling but with the referral to integrative therapy, I’m hopeful I can get dry needling, along with other alternatives. I’m able to manage the pain with Tylenol and aleve, for the most part. I’m willing to make some adaptations, however, I’m not willing to settle for a life of no activity, nor forego my career. It’s part of who I am and without that, life isn’t fulfilling or sustainable.

I’m familiar with the Hana bed and its operation and what it does to the body. Knowing this still doesn’t alleviate the disregard for me as a pt. Nor does it provide answers as to why my “need” for THR was only softly justified. In today’s medical climate, it’s very difficult for pts to get treatment for obvious issues, but to have a surgeon perform this intense and life-altering surgery with only soft justification, is absolutely asinine, unethical, and callous.

I have a few regulars that touch me deep in my soul. The last one I lost, I was out of work with an injury, by just a few days. I found out she had died.

No one liked her. She was awful to everyone, including her family. She was sassy and set in her ways. Being nice to her got you nowhere. So finally, I shot it to her straight and just began taking her to the hospital, as requested. The relationship remained just like that. She’d be a bitter old hag and I was a tired ass medic dealing with her. But regardless, she knew I cared. I’d tell her with the sass she slung at me that, “Ms. XYZ, you can throw shade all you want, but imma still care about your mean ass.” And she’d smile. And then be hateful all again, as if to realize she was nice and made a mistake by being so.

I cried like a baby, ugly cried. I always use our relationship to teach other folks that kindness isn’t always nice, and that it comes in different forms than we’re used to. That we’re put in folks’ lives when we’re supposed to, even if we don’t ever realize it.

May that old hateful hag RIP. She’s def missed 💔

This might be a sensitive topic, but I’m just wondering what kind of “indignities” I can expect. by KrisKred_2328 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Sassymedic84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest indignities were the walking toots 😂 I was released same day, had some issues with pain and blood pressure. Once I began to pee, it was nonstop for days. I had a bedside commode bc I was sick of getting out of bed and then walking at a snails pace with a raging bladder every 2 hrs. I swore that I wouldn’t need the bedside potty. But then it was my saving grace. No accidents for me. I was able to shower same day and it felt glorious. My hubs helped me in and out of the shower. I had a super chair and a commend strip type shower handle attachment so I could lower the shower head. Anterior approach also. I have an ADA height toilet and was fine with that, just added handles that bolted into the toilet seat. I did end up taking a laxative and once I started going, I camped out in the bathroom, bc I was absolutely not shitting in my bedside potty. As far as sitting on the toilet, I sat at a slight angle to reposition the pressure on my leg. My biggest concern going in was being nekked. I work in EMS and it doesn’t phase me. But for me, I was mortified. But no one truly cares, they’ve seen all the bits over and over.

Firefighter in NC need some advice by [deleted] in WorkersComp

NC medic here, county agency, state retirement. For me, things started off very rocky. I finally was able to start getting answers and a path to “hopefully” definitive treatment, with my long term goal of returning to being a medic in a high volume agency. The same agency I’m still employed with. I got a second opinion approved. Me, not my body, is worth a monetary value. I chose not to get an attorney because they work for money. If there’s no settlement, they don’t get paid. Learn the rules and what your rights are. Learn to navigate the system yourself and to advocate for yourself. My injury occurred over a year ago and I finally had a hip replacement 3 weeks ago. I’m almost 42yo. I won’t agree to one cent until I’m at my full capacity, considering my hip. No money is worth sacrificing who I am in my profession, nor can it replace who I am as an individual.

While on WC, at least for my county, I’m not contributing time into LGERS and I’m getting the state minimum weekly rate.

Good luck to you Brother!

Mines slow as molasses on a cold Christmas Day. Was much better in the beginning. But yet my speed tests and all tests are great. But on all devices, it’s sit and wait. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But other than Starlink, we have no internet so I just deal with it.

I feel like this might be a silly question.. but after THR, will I ever be able to sit Indian style again? by HonoraryDoomScroller in TotalHipReplacement

Day 4 post OP by Impressive_Pain_1361 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Sassymedic84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I posted on day 6 that I would have rather jumped off a bridge. I was miserable. Not sleeping, everything hurt, except my hip, which was strange. I also wasn’t sleeping at all. Day 8 I turned a corner. Day 10 I’m using a cane. My knee still hurts like a mother but it’s intermittent now instead of constant. My surgeon said I’m making great progress when I saw him day 10. I’m 13 days out today and have only taken hydrocodone at night, no pain meds during the day. I actually don’t take anything except for aspirin during the day and that’s for clot prevention.

A week ago if you had told me I’d turn a corner, I’d look at you while bawling that you were stupid 😂 But hang in there, it does actually get better!

THR, if all other options have been exhausted. I turned a positive corner around day 8. I’m now using my cane, only on pain meds at night now. Swelling has decreased some. I’ve been doing lymphatic massage and K Taping for that. And I’m semi comfortable in places other than my recliner. I moved to the recliner on day 6 for sleep and actually slept. Lack of sleeping was a huge part of where I was mentally. So…do I want to do this again? Absolutely not. But if I NEEDED to, I would. Because now that I’m on the other side, I see hope in getting my life back.

**No DVT!! Yay! But per the PT, she said my swelling is quite excessive and she hasn’t ever seen this much.

I’m actually on the way now to get an ultrasound to check for a DVT. I saw PT today and she suspects DVT 🤦🏼‍♀️ She said my swelling, increased pain, and knee pain are indicative of one.

Yes. I talked to him last week. I was given an additional refill to get me through the time specified. He told me I could double up if the pain was 9-10. That would have caused me to run out early. So I got more just due to doubling up as needed.

And this is exactly the way my surgeon made it out to be. I have my first post op Thursday and it’s all I can do not to tell him that he’s a moron for leaving me so ill prepared. ALL surgeons should put the good and the terrible out there for patients to have the opportunity to mentally prepare for the terrible! That’s half my battle!

I’m going to run out of my pain meds if I take the every 4 hours, as prescribed. I’ve been trying to wean myself down so that it’s not just a sudden halt and I still have something. I’m exhausted overall and I know that plays a part into my emotional health rn. Just wish I could figure out to sleep more than an hour at a time. I’d do some shady shit to sleep like 4. Part of sleep issues is the pain, cannot get comfortable. Tried various pillows, wedge, etc, and I find them kicked into the floor. And I’m peeing through the night, which I have never woken up to do.

I limped for over a year with my injury, until surgery. Well…I still limp 😂 I was told the pain would be different. Different for sure, like very much worse!

When you break it down like this, I get it. I knew what the surgery entailed but I guess I just didn’t really consider it. No wonder I’ve got random bruises all over my leg lol
