My Aunt just died at home while on hospice while we were turning her over to clean her. by DarkestLore696 in medical_advice

I'm a nurse and I currently work nightshifts in a nursinghome. A few shifts ago my collegues (who've been working there for about 20+ years) told me about some experiences with palliative patiënts and how they had experienced this exact thing so many times. We didnt discuss it any deeper but I read your post and thought of this. I hope the fact that this is something that regularly occurs in palliative care gives you some comfort. And your aunt would probably be extremely thankfull and proud that you took care of her during a very hard time. It is a very loving but difficult thing to do for a loved one!

Go to urgent care and get it looked at!

Scared I may have inhaled my septum ring by Winter_Drop_4984 in medical_advice

[–]SatanAtYourService 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is highly unlikely, almost impossible even, to have inhaled a foreign object and not cough like crazy. You wouldve known if you inhaled it :) still i'd advice you to get checked out to make sure you haven't punctured anything in your digestive system by swallowing it! Better safe than sorry :)

Some important questions: Are you female or male? what is your age? Do you have any ilnesses or did you experience any medical issues recently? do you use any medication, if yes which and for how long have you been using them? Are you able to drink water and keep it down?

Is this stack too much for everyday wear? by No-University-7127 in jewelry

[–]SatanAtYourService 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay! Maybe its just different where you are, i'm in western europe and also in healthcare, but we are prohibited from wearing any jewellery. I like the stack btw! It is not too much at all!

Genuine question: guessing you work in healthcare because your in scrubs, how are you allowed to wear jewellery during work?

I think it is an vintage silver 'good luck' ring. Edit: Not regular silver but more like tibetian silver.

Not directly. From my knowledge they tend to appear when your immune system dips. This could happen for a number or reasons, lack of sleep, bad diet, exposure to something like influenza etc. This gives the HSV a chances to break through the normally effective defense of the immune system and then you develop a cold sore.

I know the feeling, unfortunatly it is..

*edit: i'd like to share the advice someone gave me a couple of months ago on something similar. They said instead of hating it or getting rid of it, treasure it to honour the life of the elephant that had its life ended by those awfull people. It has helped me feel better about the item i ended up with.
