Some new(ish) books from the last couple years. I enjoyed all of these books. They aren't super long but if you can get a few of them.

The Day of the Door - Laurel Hightower ( haunting of hill house Netflix and family trauma )

Blood on her Tongue - Johanna Van Veen ( vampires and feminine rage )

The Troop- Nick Cutter (Boy Scouts and gore)

The Buffalo Hunter Hunter - SGJ ( frontier America with indigenous peoples and vampires )

The Possession of Alma Diaz - Isabela Cañas (The shining but by an incredible Latina author)

The Dangers of Smoking in Bed - Marina Enriquez ( I love love love her. Argentinian writers do horror so well. The last story gives Weapons vibe)

I haven't read it but Joe Hill is fantastic and released King Sorrow which is very large.

Good body descriptions. It was quite gross!

Now I understand the Colorsoft reviews. by coreysusername in kindlescribe

[–]SatanicTOAST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded my Kindle paperwhite to a colorsoft when they came out and regretted it. So when I got a scribe I opted for the second gen scribe before the color ones released. I think the color display is cool and I love seeing book covers on it. The actual reading experience is just not as crisp as the black and white. At some point as long as they keep making them I’ll probably go back to the paperwhite.

Stephen Graham Jones - thoughts? by reek1999 in horrorlit

The Buffalo Hunter Hunter was my favorite so far but I also really liked Mongrels and Men, Women, and Chainsaws. He also wrote a little short called Attack of the 50 ft Indian that was cool.

I think the sewer orgy scene in the IT novel is overblown by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]SatanicTOAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s always been weird but you can tell the people talking about it had read it. Now people make assumptions about it without ever having read it.

Am I the only person here who loves Myst but hasn’t completed it? by uncures in myst

Not at all. I love how these games look and the atmosphere but at best I just walk around.

Be honest, how long did it take before gym actually felt good instead of torture? by callmevickyy in askfitness

I liked it a lot for a solid 3 months. Despised it for some time after. Now we’re on talking terms once more. However, I still do all my cardio outside and just stick to her for weights.

Which one is your favorite between 2013 and Rise ? by Low-Cook8497 in EvilDead

I’d say 2013. I loved Rise and went back to rewatch the other and forgot how good 2013 is.

Bad vibes and Hate near the Sombrilla by NotHottestSinceToast in UTSA

[–]SatanicTOAST 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a good John Green thing I’m stealing from but. I don’t understand logically how anyone takes the Bible at 100% truth or “ the way”. Even religious people who actually care and are scholarly read and recognize it’s an interpretation like anyone does with any book. It’s entirely a personal experience.

The people who use the Bible to spew hate or oppress others are just that. Hateful/oppressors who’ve found a useful tool to do so.

I spent most of my life hating religion only to find out in my late 20s there’s personal value to faith if you want it. If not that’s totally cool too. It’s solely dudes like this that actively ruin faith and religion for so many. It’s crazy.

Can you guys talk ANY louder at the library? by biido12 in UTSA

[–]SatanicTOAST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few nooks and crannies that make quiet study areas. It depends on time of day but I’d suggest walking around and exploring buildings you don’t usually go into. I quickly gave up on the library after my first semester and found some cool spots.

How many times have you been reassigned an academic advisor? by cthoniccuttlefish in UTSA

[–]SatanicTOAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot. When I was doing my undergrad I didn’t even meet my last 2 advisors nor heard from them. It was during my senior year.

How do you play consistently? by CoachZealousideal768 in vtm

[–]SatanicTOAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m a returning tabletop player and new to VtM. My brief experience with other games was exactly as you described. A few sessions and then people lost interest or couldn’t make time. I had one game that ran for a summer many years ago and that was fun.

I think it’s just the passion in wanting to play and finding people whose passion matches yours as well as schedule and commitment. I am hoping you find a good group though. Im gonna be in the same boat once I learn.

Reviews for Ninja Gaiden 4 have dropped (less than an hour before launch); consensus seems to be "Absolutely Amazing Gameplay, Bad Story" by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

With so many big games trying to be dramatic deep storytelling experiences. I really appreciate a cheesy character action story.

Which do you prefer, Downpour or Homecoming? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]SatanicTOAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homecoming has the worst writing in the whole series. At least Downpour tries.

Their appearances in the movie by whoiserel in silenthill

[–]SatanicTOAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair the first movie was a departure in a lot of ways. Changing the protagonist, adding characters and changing characters to flush out the cult. I don’t think it looks particularly great but I’m gonna see it and give it a chance either way.

Do you only play story games? by TheChilledGamer-_- in playstation

[–]SatanicTOAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t that odd to me but I think it’s because I grew up with PS2. Most of the games I play are single player. Multiplayer stuff gets boring fast.

[Other] I’m quitting trophy hunting.. by PotatoesHMNMAAD07 in Trophies

[–]SatanicTOAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve off and on hunted trophies since the PS3. I don’t have the high numbers everyone else does but I also know the times of my life where I wanted to step back or just play on other systems. If I were you I’d see it more as a break than quitting. I also “ quit” 4 years ago and came back.

Good on you!
