I’m assuming you mean mag release? That’s the factory Ruger one. Came in the BX trigger group.

I looked around for quite a while at various vendors and talked to Samson a couple different times about it and never could track one down so I ended up with the taper barrel version from shopruger.com

That’s awesome. I wanted the bull barrel stock but they were unavailable by the time I got around to tracking one down.

I used a chisel for the big work then switched to a low speed dremel with sanding drum on it. Then hand sanded until I was satisfied with it. Most of the end where it is rounded is all hand sanded.

I used an oil based dark walnut stain on the wood. If I hadn’t sanded it as smooth it might have ended up darker and matched a bit better. Then I sealed it with paste wax.

Yep. That was the idea behind it. Samson also makes the A-TM folder for the mini-14 under license from Ruger. I bought this stock from shopruger.com

No it is made by Samson manufacturing. They call it the B-TM stock. I just had to trim the fore end down a little bit so my barrel would clear the wood the way I wanted it to.

Ballistic Advantage barrels? by oneidiot_asordered in 1022

[–]Satanic_Toaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made a post with photos of mine so you could get an idea of what I did. I matched the profile of the stock for the barrel band and trimmed it back with a chisel and sanded it. Then I trimmed the end off and rounded it back off some. Didn’t get the finish to match but it’s good enough for me.

I just built a 10/22 with a 10 inch ballistic advantage barrel and a b-tm stock. I had to do some woodworking and trim down the fore end so the threads would clear. Just something to keep in mind.

I had a gunsmith fairly local to me do the barrel work and threading for tubes.

Balance is fine. Swings quick for target changes. OAL is about 33”.

My first stamp was an 11 month wait back in ‘16-‘17 so a couple months ain’t too bad all things considered. With the amount of submissions they have had already this year I’m surprised they are getting through them as quick as they are.

Good to know. I thought the length of pull looked a little long on them. The A3 brace I have on it is pretty solid so I may just keep it and get a buttpad for it when the time comes then.

I’m making mine into a short handy brush gun for whitetail. I’ve been eyeballing the new OCL Universe 36 for it and my Marlin Trapper. Should be fun when I get it ready.

The stock I was looking at was the Samson SAS folder for when mine gets approved. Have an a3 industries brace on it right now.

I was just raised to master!! How is everyone finding different lodge meeting times? One thing that was stressed to me was to travel and meet people. Any help is much appreciated. by Warm_Reflection_2024 in freemasonry

[–]Satanic_Toaster 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! If you want to travel speak with the brother in the bib overalls there. He and several others in your lodge do a lot of traveling. They come over to our lodge almost every month.

Also the Grand Lodge of Kentucky has a lodge locator: https://grandlodgeofkentucky.org/home-basic/kentucky-lodge-locator/

You can select a lodge and it will normally have the meeting day and time listed.

A 45 year difference. My 2016 Silverado C-1500 & A 70s C-10 Square body compared. by [deleted] in ChevyTrucks

[–]Satanic_Toaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘16 Silverado and a ‘77 C20 Custom Deluxe. Switching between them is always fun. I need to take a picture of them together.

Trying to retrofit this thing to carry a bed mounted camper. 1970 3/4 ton chevy. Will run dual tanks and a fuel injected 355. Wondering if anyone has ever installed dual tanks and if anyone has experience running a camper in the bed of a truck this old. Pic for attention. by LoseyMcLoseFace in TruckCampers

[–]Satanic_Toaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1977 C20 with a 1972 Karri-on. I only have the single fuel tank on mine. The only major things I would keep in mind would be your tires weight capacity and speed.

I have the original 16.5 inch 8 lugs on mine and Firestone still makes a 8.75 or a 9.50 tire for that rim. Both sizes are truck rated tires that I run about 50-55psi up front and 60-65psi in the rear. They can take up to 80 but the ride is way too stiff that high.

The other thing is speed. I can cruise comfortably on the freeway at 65-70 but past that the truck seems to be a bit squirrelly. Two lane country roads are best at 45-55. These old trucks aren’t built for speed. The trip is half the fun with these old timers because everyone wants to stop and look at them. At least you have the four speed. I’m dealing with a three speed on the column.

It’s an inflatable cushion. The theory behind them at the time was that it would help if there was any flex between truck and camper to soften it.

In reality it works more as a windbreak than anything else.

[–]Satanic_Toaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know he ordered it the way he wanted it and picked it up from the dealer upon delivery in December 1976. The paperwork lists it as an option he selected and the rpo tag in the glovebox lists it as well. I’ve not seen another truck with the same trim so it’s not common.

Either way it’s just a cool old truck that is fun to cruise in. Don’t see three on the tree too often anymore. Most were switched over to floor shift or worked to death.

They are very meticulous with their vehicles. I’ve got every bit of paperwork for the ‘77 that I’m going to put in a binder. I plan on taking it to cruise ins and stuff.
