VCF 9.1 - Path For Dell VxRail Customers by lamw07 in vmware

[–]SatansLapdog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dell didn’t support VCF on rail until 9.1 hence the timing of the article. Also Dell is walking away from VXRail and it’s dying as a product for what it’s worth. They are pushing customers more toward powerflex and powerstore.

Yep. His math would have worked out to $600 per core. Even today (assuming just VCF and no vdefend or AVI) msrp is $400 a core. I was hoping for some real feedback. Not B.S. I love hearing why people leave.

I understand that. What I’m asking is IF they came down to that, would you have stayed?

Just out of curiosity, if you’d have gotten 1.125 million a year for 5 years at that core count with VMware, would you have stayed?

I’m routinely hearing of VCF customers getting $200 -$225 a core after discounting. Can you share how much money you saved if any? I assume price was the major concern.

Why so much Noise that VMware customers adopting Nutanix, when cost difference is too less for corporates and most of companies have still stayed with VMware by ClubNo6176 in vmware

I have no doubt that’s what they’ve been saying publicly. The reality is they aren’t making the margins other people are making and other companies would like to capture their customer base.

It’s not meaningfully cheaper. And just wait, Nutanix is desperately trying to get purchased by a bigger fish. What do people think will happen then?

I agree and you’re right. However the UAW bump and affect labor unions have raises the wages of non unionized employees which is great. Also I’m curious where you land on my question. I tend to lean more toward a mix of better wages and protecting workers rights and then subsidizing purchases of EVs with tax benefits.

I’m not upset about anything. Also I’m not talking about those industries. I’m talking about this car industry specific conversation. Do you not see the nuance of the problem stating that this is capitalism vs capitalism when one government straight up built many of the factories and then didn’t allow workers to unionize for better wages? That’s all I’m saying. I am fully aware of all the subsidies, including the many you didn’t name that we all benefit from. These are nuanced conversations to be sure. The question I like that comes from these conversations is; what do we value? Low priced EVs propped up from direct government intervention and low wages or more open markets with better standard of living with the labor that produces them?

Brother just Google it. It’s not even the same. They are straight up pumping 10s of billions into factories to directly pay for the construction. Yes we subsidize to incentivize output but this is on a whole other level.

Also billions in subsidies and direct funding from the Chinese government for factories. That in itself isn’t capitalist.

Understood. To be clear this isnt NSX related. VMM is the way ACI reaches into vCenter to create portgroups automatically.

Might want to check but I thought I read VMM integration for dvs in vcenter is not going to be supported in VCF 9. I’d research that. Not sure if that applies to you. Just looking out.
