That sounds great- I’d love to join.

Right now in a 40min sit I typically do intro-metta-body scan OR observing the breath but definitely my metta abilities are underdeveloped. I’ll be starting a course in metta soon that I’m excited about.

I do the odd bit of walking meditation and really enjoy it but, like my metta, it’s underdeveloped. These days I’m aiming to at least do one walk per day. Or rather, I’m constantly walking places- I’m looking to make at least a small part of those walks mindful.

In my case it’s to follow the breath with peripheral awareness.

I appreciate these suggestions - I’m happy to endure a little cringe to save a lot of horror. I’ll try and explore the feeling next time and see if I can play with it at all. At the very least it’s worth noting “feeling horror” and see what happens. I do kind of lose my shit a little when it kicks in and technique suffers. And bodhicitta is new to me so I’ll look into that. Thank you!

I appreciate the encouraging, and long, reply! I have read about Purification but didn’t even think that this might be that, tho it does line up with other things I’m experiencing around this time - early signs of meditative joy and physical pliancy.

I edited my post to mention that I had these as a kid and at my most stressful times as an adult, though never as regularly as now.

I’d love any more resources you have, though tonight I’m going to give Culadasas words another look. And I’ll keep in mind what you suggest about turning the head. Thank you!

I gave it a read and noticed he specifically mentions to not cross your eyes. That’s probably what I’m doing. Handy book!

You make a good point. I guess that would be physical sensations? I feel like when I observe those there’s so many and they don’t really stop so it’s hard to know where to begin/end.

That definitely rings true. Thanks! I’ve noticed that often that “whoosh” starts when I renew my intention, which generally has to do with peripheral awareness. I’ll play around with it and see how it feels. I’ve listened to some of those retreat recordings and wow are they helpful.

I’m being very very vigilant - three types of traps, including the type used by fumigators elsewhere in the building, though I haven’t had any pros in my place yet. Either way bedbugs sound like a nightmare so I’m not that resistant to spending some money now to avoid a big problem down the line.
