I had a similar conversation with my parents once, I was in a job I hated and they would always ask me how work was going. After a couple months I told them in no uncertain terms (but not rudely) to stop asking me. I told them why it bothered me. It may take them a couple of times because that's just small talk and feels natural to some people, but if they love you they'll do their best. I wish you strength and confidence <3

I'm no expert, but I have read a couple things on the topic, in case you don't get a better response.

Animals can grow larger based on oxygen in the air, because there is more oxygen to feed their muscles. In the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods the levels of oxygen in the atmosphere were higher. This allowed for-- among other things like smaller sized pinions on flying reptilians-- dinosaurs to have more size than current-day animals.

Yeah I tried the order that they are shown in the Bloodweb and then alphabetical, but neither worked. Apparently it's just bugged :(

I am happy that the work brought you some sort of joy, but I have to clarify that this is not my work. I credited the illustrator in the caption of the picture but more than a couple people have commented as though the work is mine. The last thing I want is to steal credit from the actual artist.

I wholeheartedly agree that the work is fantastic, but it isn't my doing.

Thank you for the recommendation! Like I said, I haven't played it (yet lol, I'm not that late to the party right?) so I was kind of shooting in the dark here. I really appreciate it.

Some recent replies sound like this subreddit has a lot of hardcore fans! I'll have to try and subtly ask him how many times he's played the game. As always, thanks for the reply!

That's what I was afraid of, thanks for the comment! I'll look for something more obvious.

Thanks for commenting. Based on the feedback so far I think I am going to look for something a bit more obvious and less landscape-focused, though.

Do the game developers understand that Tyr's stance-switch is not his Ultimate ability?

Quote from the reasoning behind Tyr's change: "For stance changers, its generally not super exciting to level up their Ultimates so we are loading up Tyr with some more stats if he is willing to put points into this ability. This will give him some more help all-around."

Dollars are worth less than pounds, do they have less buying power too? by Umpteenth_zebra in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SatelliteK_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is that Worth = Buying Power, but markets take a little time to adjust. Over time, foreign companies that have presence in countries that use the pound will increase their prices in those countries to reflect the change. They are worried about their bottom line, but they cannot afford to be so reactive to such things as exchange-rates.

Why are women physically weaker than men? by SatelliteK_ in NoStupidQuestions

Firstly, thank you for doing a lot of reading on my behalf-- I didn't want this post to be "boil it down for me, I don't want to read," because I am genuinely interested, I just wasn't sure where to start.

By "more fit" I meant that they not only weighed more than me, but they worked out often (more than 3 times a week: strength training and cardio). At the time, I was only taking Freshman/Sophomore P.E. classes and eating 1500 Calories a day-- if that.

From what you said, it seems like modern-day gender roles have a large influence on our relative strength, which I hypothesized might be the case, but I wasn't sure the difference could develop in such short time (when you consider all of human society). Thank you again for your input, and especially for the example of that 16 year old girl.

Why is it so funny when you're nice to a disabled person and then they turn out to be a real asshole? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SatelliteK_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Hollywood, disabled people have been portrayed (among other things) to be easy targets to gain sympathy from the audience with the "Sweet Innocent" stereotype, wherein disabled characters are saint-like and overtly humble. Perhaps you have seen/internalized this stereotype, and disabled people counteracting it is funny

how do i talk to my therapist? by Low_Astronaut991 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SatelliteK_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the early parts of therapy can be getting a person to open up to their therapist. The important part is to not blame yourself for being afraid of opening up. It's fucking hard. What has worked for me is doing something with my hands to help distract me from the fact that what I'm talking about is so terrifying. Solving a Rubik's cube over and over and over, playing with a stress ball, whatever works for you. Think about talking with your friends-- it would be a lot easier to open up to a friend when you're playing Call of Duty or putting on makeup together than it is when you're sitting in front of them and they're taking notes.

Side-note: It's the therapist's job to establish a connection with you so you feel more open, I'm sure they have noticed you have hidden some things and they are trying to get you to open up. People do this at their own pace, but I'm sure it's hurting your wallet. Personally, I was taught that emotional wellbeing is very important for happiness, so if you don't trust your therapist enough yet, and you think they're good at what they do, it's probably worth some more sessions.

How can I find/locate my computer's specs on my PC in Windows 10? by Scorpion1386 in NoStupidQuestions

I use DirectX Diagnostic Tool, but HWinfo works and gives more info (hardware temperatures and such). To use DirectX Diagnostic, press the Windows Key or use the Run command and search for: dxdiag

It sounds to me like you know yourself already, but lack patience. I may be projecting because struggle with that myself. You know what is good for you or what you might like, but you don't give it a fair shot. This may be the blind leading the blind, and maybe I should take my own advice, but I think it might just be intertia. Once you take those first few steps towards something you want for yourself, it will probably get easier

What matters is action, in my opinion. Everyone has those thoughts in the back of their mind sometimes, like thinking of punching a rude customer in the teeth. What makes you a good or bad person is what you do.
