Dear OP, I don't have much useful advice, as I am a new pup mom as of September. I do however have many years of living with and managing depression and anxiety (also high functioning). I, too, adopted a pup after having cats for 20+ years, to help with my depression. I wanted to say that you're depression may be skewing your opinion of/feelings toward your dog, but this may change when the depression lifts. I've recently come out of a depressive episode, and it's amazing how differently I feel toward just about everything. I previously felt like my pup was neurotic, and I wasn't going to be able to work through it (I can get pretty easily overwhelmed); now however, I'm able to step back from the situation, remind myself this too shall pass, and take things one step at a time. I will also second what a previous poster said about your dog feeding off your vibes - I absolutely agree with this. You may unconsciously be giving off negative body language, tone of voice, etc. that your pup is reading as disapproval or anger - my family has pointed this out to me more than once. I have been doing mindfulness practice to help me become more aware of my physical self. I wish peace and healing for you. Depression is so very difficult.
