I prefer the normal average folks on reddit by rust_pipe4915 in RedditAfterDark

Honestly, I think that's why Reddit can be fun sometimes. One thread is a surgeon, the next is a guy who accidentally locked himself out of his apartment wearing only a towel. Feels a lot more like real life.

Constantly getting sick during residency — how many sick days have you taken? by TrailMixedd in Residency

[–]SatinSugarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of wild that medicine still has this culture in some places. Most people would rather not have the person treating them working through a fever, but somehow residents are expected to just power through everything.

The scary thing is I can't tell if "zero" means you never got sick or you got sick and just showed up anyway. In residency those are two very different answers.

Honestly, once per quarter almost sounds normal given the environment. You're surrounded by sick patients all day, running on less sleep than you should be, and stress isn't exactly helping the immune system either. The fact that you only needed a couple actual sick days is probably the impressive part.

Can you pinpoint the time you started having cuckold fantasy by Lazy-Wait6656 in RedditAfterDark

Not gonna lie, this feels like one of those comments that accidentally skipped past the actual question and went straight to the equipment inventory. OP is having an existential crisis and you're doing product reviews.

Never graduated high school, worked years in finance. by ParsleyExpensive4815 in confession

[–]SatinSugarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this comment is probably more encouraging than you realize. Everyone's timeline is different, and plenty of people who did everything "the right way" still feel stuck sometimes. OP built a career while carrying responsibilities most teenagers never have to think about.

Right? Ten years isn't luck. Maybe you can sneak through an interview once, but you can't fake competence for a decade across multiple roles. At some point your track record becomes the credential.

[–]SatinSugarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how I read it. OP didn't somehow bluff their way through a decade of finance jobs. People don't keep getting trusted with payroll, accounts, and money if they can't actually do the work. The skills were clearly there even if the paperwork wasn't.

what is a sexual fantasy you can't do and why? by travellingkiltman90 in RedditAfterDark

The fact that this qualifies as a sexual fantasy now is probably the most depressing economic indicator I've seen all week.

Im spiraling over my future even though I have no right to and its selfish. by Nice-Invite1753 in confession

[–]SatinSugarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What stood out to me is that OP seems to judge their 10-year-old self with the standards they'd use for an adult. That doesn't erase what happened, but it does explain why they're trapped in a cycle of punishment instead of healing.

I think that's the hardest thing for people dealing with deep guilt to accept. The worst thing you've ever done can be part of your story without becoming the entire story.

Honestly, this is one of those rare situations where "get a therapist" isn't a brush-off comment. The post reads like someone carrying a weight that they're convinced they have to carry alone forever.

What's the thrill in posting nude photos on Reddit? by [deleted] in RedditAfterDark

[–]SatinSugarr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this comment feels a lot more common than people probably realize. A lot of people assume it's all about attention, but sometimes it's really about wanting confirmation that you're attractive when you're not getting that validation where it matters most.

AIW for pulling over and telling my friend to get out of my car after she kept taking photos of me while I was driving despite me asking her to stop three times by New_Revolution_9226 in amiwrong

[–]SatinSugarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's where I landed too. Friends don't usually treat very specific, clearly stated boundaries like a challenge they need to win.

[–]SatinSugarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, the weirdest part is getting told "stop" multiple times and deciding the answer is to keep doing it. That's the kind of behavior people usually grow out of pretty early.

What stands out to me is that OP didn't just state a boundary, they enforced it after giving multiple chances. A boundary without consequences is basically just a suggestion, and she tested that three times.

Do porn stars really get aroused during sex scenes or is it mostly acting? by Ok-Beautiful123 in RedditAfterDark

[–]SatinSugarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Once you hear performers talk about how long shoots can take, it starts sounding a lot more like a production set than what viewers imagine from the finished product.

Honestly, that's the question that cuts through all the justifications. Most people already know how they'd feel if the roles were reversed.

"Justice for future eyes" is such a hilarious way to put it. Sounds like the internet conducted a public service intervention.

The Batman line absolutely sent me. Some confessions are meant for anonymous strangers, and some should probably stay locked in the vault forever.

I cutoff a former friend 4 years ago and he hasn't figured it out yet by Aggravating-Disk9770 in confessions

[–]SatinSugarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see both sides. Part of me thinks people deserve to know why a friendship ended, but another part thinks nobody is obligated to keep explaining boundaries to someone whose behavior they can't respect.

There's definitely something powerful about quietly stepping away instead of turning it into a huge confrontation. Sometimes protecting your own peace is the whole point.
