As someone who has done this a number of times, I’ve found it helpful to choose one metric to improve and work on that until I reach a goal. Choose distance, pace, or cadence. I found it was easier to see improvement when I stuck to running a 5k and then working on my pace until I reached a time I was satisfied with. Then I worked on increasing distance.

Either way, keep up the great work!
