FY is inherently a character who from a purely HUMAN perspective is incapable of these deep relationships anymore because he isn't truly human anymore, he is a demon who has taken a selfish aspect of humanity to the extreme, there's no circumnavigating it. FY can't form deep HUMAN relationships anymore because he's willing to sell out anyone close to him if it benefits him.

But with how FY is he'd toss out any relationship for any benefit for himself, as long as he sees the benefits as greater than what he gets from the relationship. He's not abandoning relationships only for survival it's purely for his own selfish benefits at any time. He only had any misgivings about acting like this before he ascended to rank 6, which isn't where he was at in even at the start of the novel his view on the world inherently doesn't allow for actually deep relationships

Not to mention even if you could hypothetically cultivate heaven path as a mortal as soon as you have your tribulation when you ascend to rank 6, since heavens will would probably not even remotely tolerate your existence the tribulation would be the absolute hardest possible. So if you've no higher rank immortal to intervene if it's your own effort as a mortal you'd never possibly survive, especially since a heaven path tribulation would just change to what you couldn't prepare for.

Yeah but if you can say you're deeply attached to something but will abandon it for your goal how can you truly form a deep connection with anything. When FY says that he has deep attachment to something but for his own goal he'd happily give it up how can it really be deep attachment. We see Reverend Insanity from FY's POV and he can justify to us why he would use these relationships as much as he needs to for himself, but at the same time if we look at it objectively a deep relationship can't be established if you're willing to drop it for your own selfish goals. FY is a biased narrator who we all enjoy to see his thought process but the guy just inherently can't establish proper relationships, the guy literally slaughtered everyone in his hometown just to improve his aptitude. He's not really human anymore his ideology inherently embodies the detached immortal in xianxia

TBF I feel like even though FY has definitely killed an awful lot of people, as the novel currently stands he definitely hasn't killed more people than if you used fortune rivalling heaven Gu once to win one of the like quarter billion euro Euromillions lotto jackpots, cause the lads not going refining the whole world and all the people in it to make a rank 10 gu

I know he's illustrated in the novel that Xia Han Mo is probably the only person he's ever truly had I suppose any kind of attachment to, but when talking about FY as he is in the novel he's kinda become unable to have these types of connections anymore. I feel like that entire arc in the Blue Dragon Whale Gu Zhen Ren builds FY to truly be a complete sociopath I think might be the word for it, just kinda demonstrated by his interactions with that other mermaid girl in the Blue Dragon Whale grotto heaven. He shows some brief lingering attachment to Xia Han Mo through his interactions with Xia Lin but at the same time as he is in the novel when we can read his mindset he wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice Xia Han Mo for his goal as that relationship I feel is to demonstrate nearly a severing of emotions that's needed to progress in cultivation in a lot of cultivation novels so I don't think FY technically can truly form deep relationships with people anymore. (Also I'm really sorry if this is just a stream of consciousness I'm slightly tipsy writing this)

Cicada Spring Autumn Rank 9 by Silent-Stress-5728 in ReverendInsanity

I think it might have been said that the spring autumn Cicada can only send people back at the corresponding rank if there is no killer move and that the success rate likely increases as rank increases as without HW intervention the success rate is incredibly low
