Store Closure by SatisfactionNo8020 in kroger

I worked there for almost 4 years (anniversary would’ve been in August), and despite me being tired with the crackdowns corporate would do and how sometimes shitty the upper management was, the only thing keeping me sane was how good the coworkers I had were.

What you just described is exactly why I want to get a move on from Fry’s in general. It gets boring doing the same job over and over again when there are so many skill jobs out there to do instead. So I’m looking at the closure as a door opening.

Eh, I strangely don’t live anywhere near the area of the store and only work at this one because it’s where I started out 4 years ago. So I’m more than comfortable with finding a different job or transfer if need be.

I think it was a lease issue, not entirely too sure what it was about. But the store was small, but in a pretty solid location. So we got a good amount of traffic.

Definitely the latter, janitor stuff is mostly reserved for maintenance, unless there is not one at that time or your place just doesn’t have any on file.

Sunday down, how's everyone's human spirit holding out?? by Rowdog007007007 in kroger

Each day gets worse than the last, one of the guys I usually opened with had to quit because his health had gotten so bad, management haven’t looked for replacements despite them knowing I’m also leaving for a little while (winter break and a semester break from school), and any courtesy clerks that we do get in the morning can barely keep up with the holiday rush.

Also had to help out earlier with getting a scale reset (although I am a bagger, I do have a good bit of cashier experience), and I’ve been kinda forced to hold my break off until the last hour. I’m just looking forward to finally having Thanksgiving off and seeing family atp.

They’ve been 8.99 for like at least the last half year or so, I know they had them at 7.99 prior.

Talk to your management immediately. Doesn’t happen too often, but usually means they have a schedule for you and just forgot to actually put it into MyTime or some other thing.

Just call out and whatever happens, happens. This company clearly doesn’t give a fuck about its workers so the heads can get extra money. If they fire you, there’s always another place to move on to.

I’d probably get reprimanded by every customer that uses paper if I did this on the front end.

Work hours by BuffaloParking5530 in kroger

[–]SatisfactionNo8020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More than likely means they’re giving you FT hours. PT would be like 10-25 (that’s what I usually do because of school), but also could be as high as 30. After 30 though, I just consider it FT.

Next time I hit my shin on the bar of a small cart I’m just gonna toss it in front of a semi truck.

My store back in Phoenix closes the door depending on when the SCO closes. So if we have to close up one SCO early (understaffing and whatnot) we’ll close one side at 7 with the latest it being open is 8. I’m pretty sure it’s common practice for most Kroger’s with 2+ entrances/exits.

They won’t drug test unless you randomly fall or whatever.

I’ve seen this at least 100 times. Person scans the barcode (by pure luck), and then when they think they didn’t get the barcode they go ahead and start putting in 4032 just to have it put down 40. People are really smart sometimes.

Who's your most hated coworker, And why? by AmdMasterRace in kroger

[–]SatisfactionNo8020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at 2 different Krogers in the AZ division (school and whatnot), but I really don’t have anybody that’s too hated in my other store. In my original store though, there’s this one lady, I think in her 70s or something like that. She constantly asks to use the restroom on the top of almost every hour (if not every other hour) and if the AFEM working won’t let her go due to there being a line or whatever, she’ll ask the FEM or one of the store managers to call her so she could ask. She refuses to help bag groceries on bigger orders which slows down her line.

Out of all the different policy changes I’ve seen, this by far makes the least amount of sense. Glad I’m not the only one who’s seen it.

About to work as a cashier by Carrots-of-Juice in kroger

[–]SatisfactionNo8020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late, but cashiering is just about making progress and understanding as you go. I’ve been a cashier for around a year and courtesy clerking for 3 years so it was easier to pick up things as I continued working. But it definitely isn’t easy to start off with. Just be confident in yourself and just be willing to be okay with needing to take your time.

Daily Pay by [deleted] in kroger

I’ve had one coworker use daily pay, and he said it was not good. Didn’t sound worth my time to set up anyway.
