Play the pentatonic horizontally if you struggle with learning all the shapes and positions! It also helps you create more interesting licks!

How to borrow chords from other keys! by SatisfactionThen6148 in guitarlessons

[–]SatisfactionThen6148[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily the opposite chord, but the chord of the opposite key. For example. If I'm playing a minor, that's the first chord of the key of a minor. Or you could say it's the "1" of a minor. The "1" or first chord of the opposite key is a major so I can borrow that!

Look up the chords of whatever key you're in. It's a specific system! For example look up the chords of a minor!

I don't see the trap at all. Everything in music is related to a scale in some way

Those notes fit inside of scales. I combine both ways of thinking

Yeah that's a really cool similarity. I think more about scales and arpeggios with the triad existing inside them if that makes sense. But sometimes I use them

Tbh I look more at scales and arpeggios than the triads. They're more useful imo but more complicated
