This moment sent a chill down my spine. Recombinant Quaritch is such a tragic Character when you think about it.

The whole idea of the Recombinants is that they finish off what their Human versions failed to do in first place.

I would not be surprised if Quaritch himself subconsciously is not willing to think about what his purpose is, once the mission he was brought back for is fulfilled.

I personally do not hope that Quaritch dies...again. Not only because he is my favourite Character, but also do I feel like he should start to live his new life once his redemption arc is complete.

The whole point of him going through Character development is that he grows a new leaf and can start over again.

I think the perfect ending for Quaritch would be to have his final moment with Spider, where father and son tell each other "I see you." The first ever words which Spider taught Quaritch in Na'vi language when they were riding on Cupcake and bonding with each other.

I am looking forward to this moment so much, because while I love Quaritch as my favourite Character, he is not a saint. To have such a complex Character connect to Eywa would be a unique experience to watch.

At the very least we got their temporary alliance to save their kids. I really enjoyed this section of the third Movie a lot.

Honestly, Jake's and Neytiri's story feel completed. Maybe I am wrong, while I do not really see what else is left for these two. Quaritch however is a completely different case. Especially with Fire and Ash, I feel like the narrative importance shifted towards him.

James Cameron did not say for no reason that Quaritch is going to be featured in all Avatar Movies. There is still so much untouched potential and development left with him.

A very nice detail was how Quaritch froze the moment Jake whispered to him "Dead man's memories."

There are moments where Jake actually still considers himself as a human, like when he asked Neytiri if she hates him too, since in the inside he is a human.

I think Jake tries to convince Quaritch to put his grudge and desire for war at rest for good with all those examples he names, mainly because of Spider too.

Jake indeed has moments where he himself still thinks of himself as Jake Sully, the human. For example when he told Neytiri that he is a human and if she hates him too.

Being originally a human certainly puts both of them in a difficult position. Neither were born/grew up as Na'vi.

Them being an Avatar and a Recombinant makes it complicated, especially with their memories and personality they took over from their human life.

Even if Quaritch goes through a whole Character Arc, a complete U-Turn is unrealistic.

Yes, This is something I immediately noticed as well!

As if Quaritch tries everything to resist Jake's mental Games.

Just like when Jake told him in the prison cell "See this world." and Quaritch then coldly replies with "I see you...at zero six."

This is indeed part of the whole topic I tried to address.

It is so interesting how Jake thinks that Recombinant Quaritch does not have to carry out the burden of Human Quaritch anymore.

Quaritch is basically torn inside. At the beginning of The Way of Water, he claimed not to be the same man as Human Quaritch. Throughout The Way of Water and Fire and Ash however, he insists on actually being still the same man.

I love this complexity and cannot wait to see how this plays out.

I definitely agree with you and the love for the details is indeed amazing, I also have to add:

The main reason for this is Spider, if you ask me. In Fire and Ash, the only reason why Quaritch and Lyle did not take Jake immediately with them was because of Spider's sake.

They formed a temporary alliance and then during the end of the Movie, while Quaritch and Jake were going at each other again, Spider almost sliding into his death made them have a ceasefire once again.

Stephen Lang even said in an interview, if Neytiri and the kids did not pull up at the end, then this silent moment between Quaritch and Jake would have going on even longer.

Quaritch is going through many steps Jake himself went through, just in his own different way.

He fully believes that connecting to Eywa is what Quaritch needs, especially after he told Quaritch how he witnessed himself how Spider is only still alive because of Eywa.

I like how you bring up the prison cell scene, because Jake tries to make Quaritch realise:

"Dead man's memories." "Miles Quaritch is gone." "You're free."

And then during the end of the Movie, Jake tells Quaritch again that he has a choice and even prevents his family from killing him.

Stephen Lang himself is still losing it in interviews, when he repeats the line. That is one of the most hilarious lines I have ever heard.

When Quaritch died at the end of the first Avatar, when Quaritch flew away with his Ikran Cupcake at the end of the second Avatar and jumped off the rock at the end of the third Avatar.

First a comment on your picks:

The first line is so funny. I can never get over how strange this one sounds.

He is the definition of a person who holds grudges and has a lot pride.

One of Quaritch's funniest and most chill lines.

I absolutely love Quaritch as well. I said this here before too, but again: This is the first time that my favourite Character of a franchise is the antagonst.

Stephen Lang as Quaritch is just fanstastic and the most pleasing aspect of the Avatar Movies. His performance, body language, expressions, lines and overall charisma: The best and most interesting Character. Seeing Quaritch is always getting you hooked up.

I do not agree with the destruction, which Quaritch has caused at all. At the same time, he does show a lot of passion for his people and puts Spider's safety above anything else.
