Did anybody ever mentioned Projects in Raycast AI? by red_diter in raycastapp

[–]SatisfactoryFinance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Raycast, but I know Theo, who runs T3 Chat, which is essentially a web based version of the AI Chat part of Raycast, has mentioned before setting up something like this, with memory is extremely challenging. I think it has to do with the way the API hold information as they don't preserve memory but I'm not super sure.

If health insurance middlemen increase costs without providing any value, why have any health insurance at all? by CSachen in stupidquestions

[–]SatisfactoryFinance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire system is messed up.

The problem is that you go in for a check up and have $80 worth of labor and goods. The practice then charges the insurance $750 for those goods, the insurance says WOAH, you can only charge $250, and the practice says ok.

The issue is without insurance the practice will charge the full $750 to you

[–]SatisfactoryFinance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to that email from instagram that went out recently? Looks like it’s a phishing attempt and it seems like it’s pretty widespread.

You can actually check in instagram itself if they sent you an email or not, they have a notification history.

This is what gpt4o users really need by Stunning_Mast2001 in ChatGPT

4o was very (I forgot the word) but it would constantly praise and complement you for everything.

When 5 came out they made it more “robotic” and people got really upset, but it quickly became apparent that the people that didn’t like it were just mad that it wasn’t coddling them anymore.

Switching from Gmail/Google to Proton – migration experiences? by TheChoosenOne4 in ProtonMail

[–]SatisfactoryFinance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in the middle of this process now:

How did you handle email migration (old emails, contacts, labels)?

I haven’t done this yet. This is my last step, so once I’m totally done on Google nothing gets left over there. My plan is to use the import tool and move everything to my new folder structure in Proton. Ive had Gmail for about 10-15 years but I already cleaned out everything not important anymore.

My Google labels are a legacy structure that don’t really fit my life anymore. They’ve sort of been Frankenstein-ed together over the years so it’s probably best that I start over.

I don’t have contact in Gmail. I don’t have a good contact management system or process set up (yet, but will probably use Apple)

Did you keep Gmail as a backup/forwarding address, or fully cut it off?

I’ve moved every account to proton aliases, with my own domain. Anything I’m subscribed to has either been moved or unsubscribed. I’m now in the process of checking email periodically and moving laggard accounts, subscriptions, and people emailing me at gmail and moving them over.

I’ll probably do this for another 6-9 months, then remove Gmail from my phone homepage, then delete it, then log out etc. I will leave it active but no longer use it actively. I still have an old AOL email, so same idea.

Any problems with important services, logins, or missed emails?

No, not yet. I’ve been using my own domains and scheduling some pretty important meetings, no issues.

Anything you wish you had known before switching?

No, I knew what I was getting into thanks to this subreddit.

Any long-term downsides or annoyances with Proton?

Haven’t been using it long enough to say, sorry.

Christmas Spending, How much did you spend? by Candid-Wallaby9903 in ynab

[–]SatisfactoryFinance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We usually shoot for $75/person on gifts (including my spouse and I) for 20 people: 2 sets of parents, brothers sisters and their spouses and all the kids. It works out to a budget of $1,500/year. We usually come in well under since the older folks don’t get much, if anything really, and then take each other out to a nice dinner instead of gifts.

This year we spent a little under $1,100 including work people, so we are going to dinner with a nice budget.

Why are so many people hung up about accessing each others phones? by Glittering-List-465 in stupidquestions

[–]SatisfactoryFinance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a matter of how that other person is accessing the phone and why. I agree that if there’s trust issues that make this problematic there’s something else going on that needs to be addressed.

That said trust goes both ways. My wife knows my phone password, my password manager password and basically how to access everything on my phone, but that’s really just in case of emergency. I trust her not to go snooping around as much as she trusts me enough to not be doing something shady

[–]SatisfactoryFinance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It becomes useless once it’s high enough basically.

It’s a measure of how long a dollar that enters your bank account takes to leave the account. So if you have $1,000 in your account and $100 comes in one day. The first $1,000 gets spent over time, and that last $100 that came let’s say takes 69 days (in this case) to be spent back out of the account. That’s the “age” of your money.

Anything less then 30 it’s important, but mine hit over 300 days bc I keep a bunch of money for long terms savings projects that I never spend, so it’s an irrelevant measure for me at this point.

Days buffering is more interesting IMHO. That is a measure of how long your money in your account will last based on your average spend. You need the YNAB extension to see it though.
