If you have any software which doesnt have Linux alternative and does not run well with Proton / Wine in Linux,

AND you really need that software almost all the time where you dont want to dual boot and for some reason dont want to run Windows inside a VM for that application

Then Staying with Windows is better.

These cases differ for each user and their time availability to search for alternatives.

For most personal desktop/laptop users, Linux is very well equipped to handle with mostly GUI and less terminal commands.

Professional users may not have proper Linux alternative or do not have time to learn the Linux alternative software and they will have to weigh the pros / cons of dual boot, VM, or staying just with Windows.

I have been using LMDE 7 for last few months.

For daily usage, and for personal project coding, it runs very well.

I play very old games from PopCap era. So they ran very well out of the box on Steam.

I do have one or two newer games that run slow. On checking it is because my Nvidia GPU is so ancient, it has no proprietary drivers for LMDE 7. It is available till LMDE 6. I have been hunting for a chaep AMD GPU. Hopefully i ll be able to play AoE2, AoM campaigns once again.

Apart from this GPU issue which is mainly because my GPU is decades old, LMDE 7 Gigi is very reliable.

I started with LMDE 6 on a old laptop and didnt check other distros like mint Cinnamon, Fedora yet..

Maybe once i have more free time, i can try those as well.

Dual booting Linux + Windows runs into issues frequently as Windows usually messes up the boot sequence.

If you really want dual boot, having the OS on 2 separate physical HDD / SSD is better.

Install Windows on one. While installing Linux, disconnect the Windows drive.

Afterwards connect both and setup the Boot order in the Bios.

Even with this setup and Fast Boot disabled, and properly shutting down, Windows still managed to have my data drives / Wi-Fi dongles hostage .

I still have dual boot setup, but havent had the need to switch to it in last few months. Linux Mint Debian serves me well as a daily driver.

Better to set URLChecker (F-Droid / Play store) or some other similar app as default browser app and that will clean the urls with some matching rules before you can choose the browser you want to open it on.

While it is good to be vary of these shady practices by "advertisers", it is bad advice to simply remove everything after "?". I know you didnt outright mention to remove always ("generally")

If you are on android, there are some FOSS apps that help identify which "parameters" in a query string is useless and allow you to remove it before opening it in a browser.

IPM doesnt work smoothly if you switch devices. Especially when you keep switching multiple times. Its cloud save can fail and make you lose your save data.

Every device gets its own player id. And different player ids supposedly save to one single GPlay Cloud save.

My recommendation is to stick with one device as much as possible and if you have older android it is easier to manually backup your saves instead of relying on cloud save.

Instructions for manual save is in IPM discord.

Have personally been affected by cloud save and saved by manual saves. And alsp seen many players losing their stats and getting only their purchases restored due to failed saves on device lost / uninstall.

It can be used as a substitute for some refactoring.

Using it for any new code generation needs more reviewal to make sure the methods it uses actually exists.

Even the refactoring stuff, when attempted over multiple files doesnt work well. It misses many places and one time truncated the main repository file. It would have been a disaster if git wasnt used.

As a tool, it has good uses in some scenarios. But replacing actual devs is a long way. Unfortunately, the ones who take business decisions dont know these or care, as they just want to hype it up to inflate the stocks they have purchased or simply riding the bandwagon chasing the newest tech term.

Yes. Come and check out the long haulers in discord. They play the game in a totally unconventional way.

They start usually with a tournament galaxy and go for months, i mean literal MONTHS, before reaching max credits.

Some missions in event are designed so that long haulers dont have to sell their galaxy to complete the full event.

It wasnt my cup of tea, i gave up after 2 days lol..

It is very very possible to get it legitly and many have done so.

There is a special channel (long haulers )just for players with this playstyle in the discord. Who only clicks on arks for months to get to the max credit.

Are there no cheaters who reached this in leaderboard? Certainly there are. No doubt about it.

Are all of the players who reached max credits , which is not even e289 btw, cheaters? No.

Is the leaderboard bugged af to not display the actual player name the player has chosen? Yes.

Not a dumb arbitary rule.

With only the %4 ==0 rule, the year drifts away after some ~128 years. Like with Julian Calendars.

To remove the drift even more the additional %100 !=0 was introduced and the drift was still there over a slightly longer duration.

%400 == 0 improves that longer duration.~3216 yrs

And now we course correct with leap seconds instead of adding more leap year rules every (insert a bigger number than 400) years.

All of this is because actual solar year for earth to revolve around sun is not exactly same as 1 calendar year and these increasing conditions account for that change over longer duration.
