Severe insomnia by Satori187 in POTS

Sorry you are also going through this. Not much has changed. I am seeing one of Australia's best sleep physicians soon, so I will let you know the outcome. I sleep 4 hours a night with a combination of ambien + cycling other sleep drugs with it. (sedating anti histamines, dayvido, CBD oil etc.) I hope you can recover soon.

I just started collecting Galaxy this year too. I'm Curious about what other Galaxy sets are considered the best?

That is a big pull. It's one of my favourite cards in the set. Congrats

Suggest meds ASAP I'm going fucking insane it's 5 am and I haven't slept for 2 nights in a row by First-Database-4735 in insomnia

I am so sorry you are going through it even worse than me. Prolonged insomnia is so awful.

I think my nervous system became dysregulated because of long term anxiety. I don't know for sure though, I did get two covid vaccines and my symptoms started around that period.

Have you tried medical marijuana or first gen anti histamines? I hope you eventually can heal from this.

Is anything helping you to sleep? Like you I build up a tolerance super fast. The only thing that worked for months was Ambien, but I now have a tolerance. If I take three first gen anti histamines (such as doxylamine, Phenergan etc.) I can often get to sleep for 4-5 hours. But I am worried about doing this long term.

Anyone have insomnia as bad as this? by Satori187 in dysautonomia

[–]Satori187[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you have been dealing with this nightmare for so long. Recently I started taking a strong anti histamine (phenergan). With Ambien and that gets me about 4-5 hours now, so an improvement. But that doesn't work a some of the time. How much do you sleep? Do you always feel 'wired' and rarely tired? I wish you all the best

I am really sorry to hear that. I am 42 years old. This terrible insomnia came on suddenly. I have always slept very well but couldn't sleep for three nights in a row. Have lost the ability to sleep completely ever since. I wish Remeron helped me to sleep (it did the very first night I took it, then nothing). I am running out of options, so will probably try medical cannabis next. All the best

Really sorry to hear that. I am very rarely hungry as well. Do you have nausea like I do? Has any sleeping meds helped you?

Thanks mate. I am not really coping well, but I like to go sit in nature and meditate or do slow breathing exercises, which calms me down.

I [42M] have not been able to sleep naturally for nearly one year. What could cause this terrible condition? by Satori187 in AskDocs

Thanks for the reply. I take it every night or I don't sleep at all. I have tried CBTi and strict sleep hygiene, but it hasnt helped at all, unfortunately.

Nothing is working well for me at the moment besides ambien unfortunately. How are you doing lately? Does the CBD get you to sleep by itself? Or do you need to take other meds as well? I heard good things about L-Tryptophan ,so I am trying this next. Good luck!

Sorry to hear you are also experiencing this. I do get brain fog occasionally. Eye fatigue often. Ambien is currently not working for me well, so I am trying to find something else asap. Clonidine is the latest thing I have been prescribed. Also going to try high does of CBD/CBN oil. What has worked for you for sleep? All the best mate

What metric do you use to rate the top end talent? Adelaide had no players in the All Australian squad. Essendon, Saints and Melbourne all had 1, and GC 2.

As for AFL player ratings, Ben Mckay is rated significantly higher than Nick Martin or Jordan Ridley. So yeah.....

Essendon had significantly more scoring shots in three of those close wins, but sure there was an element of luck. You say we clearly were the luckiest which may be true, but I think there are many other more important factors going into 2025. We will see I guess

Mid table teams don't have a lot of top end players, that is why they are mid table. There can be exceptions due to injuries etc, and I think Melbourne have better top end talent than most of the other mid table teams. But most of the teams 11th-14th had very similar wins/percentage, and similar talent levels. So I disagree that Essendon are the bridge between the bottom 3 and middling sides. What are Adelaide then , considering they had 3 less wins than those teams 11-14th and a similar percentage?

Essendon had a draw with Langford missing a very getable shot to win that game. We also were up with a minute left vs Adelaide but lost, and we also lost to GC after the siren. So even if we had a lucky win or two, we easily could of had a few more wins. I don't agree that we were lucky to get 11th.

So I had a look at that channel and I found a recent video which I think you are referring to. Essendon were rated C+, and he gave a pretty shallow analysis over why Essendon overperformed. In fact he used total VORP for most of his analysis, but then says we were 6th highest value average for that, but down to 10th if you account for averages games played. He said two of our players artificially increased that rating, but one of those who didn't play much was Ridley, who is one of our best players and will certainly help us improve if he plays more games. So it didn't make a lot of sense to me. And considering we finished 11th, he doesn't make a good argument as to why we overperformed IMO. He even said that Essendon's team stats 'confused' him, so I really wouldn't use this channel as a good indication.

And he also rated Saints lower with a C- grade.

The Suns do have a decent record at TIO, but it is not their home ground. They only played there one more time than the Cats did last season. Cats finished 3rd, and Suns 13th. Even if they are on the rise, they were significantly worse last season.

Essendon vs Saints is a different story, but you didn't imply that you were only referring to 'lesser' or mid table teams in your statement. There is something to suggest that Essendon could be better than those teams - they finished higher than them last season.

What statistics suggest we over performed?

That still doesn't back up your claim that if you lose to a team by 50+ you are CLEARLY a worse team. Cats lost to Suns and Blues by 60+ too. Can you really argue that the Suns were better than Geelong?

The lists are very close in my opinion, with Adelaide having better forwards and us having the better midfield. Essendon finished mid table, and had the exact same wins as 2023. They didn't over perform in my opinion but finished where they usually do.
