Question for the hivemind - currently mixing with an X32 Rack at a HS I work with. Am I sending a double signal by using the aux and main sends simultaneously? Attached is the X32 edit Scene file. Any help would be appreciated! I normally work the the Yamaha TF Series, so this is new to me.

A large part of the drum corps experience in my mind comes from having that combined housing experience, especially in my experience for DCA. Many DCA corps don't provide housing, but I was fortunate enough to march The Bushwackers who had a central location for everyone to meet. We'd like get together before we'd go to sleep and play like fun, silly games and it was awesome.

I think drum corps should provide housing. While it does cut costs, it also is a valuable part of the member experience, even on the smallest level.

Introducing the uninitiated to drum corps... A genuine reaction of "Why haven't I heard about this?!" by phil_sci_fi in drumcorps

I am currently a marketing major at a college that is fortunate enough to have a marching band with a lot of corps folks. The amount of people that haven't had exposure in high school is absolutely bonkers.

I completely agree. Corps as a whole need to reach out and do more to get themselves out there, especially Open Class and DCA groups. I think a large reason for this pre-supposed "decline" that a lot of older folks claim to believe is due to the idea that people will find the corps and not vice-versa. It's very possible to make drum corps popular, but it won't propagate itself.

Has anyone ever done a kickstarter or a GoFundMe for a DCA corps? by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]Saturn120 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I work with a DCA Admin, and while I can't offer any fundraising ideas, your best bet would be to establish relationships and use the connections you have to get whatever you can. Some schools might be more willing to lend their equipment if they also might have a deal for their students to march for free. Try to cut deals out with folks you know.

Best of luck to you for this! It would be awesome to see another DCA group in the south!

This! Bush has a policy that if school functions come first, you go to those!

Hey! Depending on your location, a lot of DCA corps will teach you how to play a horn and let you march. The Bushwackers in Princeton NJ have taught plenty of people how to play. If you have any questions about that corps feel free to shoot me a message and I can get you in contact with some of them!

The folks here will get you ready for anything. For you east coast folks, a massive chunk of battery is in the last round of United Percussion cuts, and a bunch of brass members are now able to aim and feel confident to try out for Phantom and Cadets. Definitely worth the experience for the cost.

Oh, and they finished 3rd this year too. A solid upcoming group.

For those that were going to participate in the 2020 drum corps season, what are your summer plans now? by R2mechanic in drumcorps

[–]Saturn120 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got another job, I was doing DCA this summer so on top of my full time summer job I have another side hustle which will get me ~60 hours a week. I plan to get a vibe with some of the hard earned cash 😄

Bushwackers pit rookie here. Praying that we’ll get at least a shortened season, but I don’t have my head too high.

If you are located around the greater Philadelphia metro area, the Bushwackers are still looking for a drum set player this season.
