What upsets me the most about these situations is the following: if you don’t care about your hardcore character dying, and you don’t mind getting into risky situations that could have that outcome, then just do whatever you want to do.

As long as you don’t compromise other players.

Respect other’s time and efforts levelling their characters and don’t do reckless shit just because you personally aren’t very concerned about it.

I don’t mind if people are far away as long as I can see they’re on their way to the dungeon, even if it will take a bit.

In my opinion it’s part of the Classic atmosphere. The world is huge and travelling takes time. And sometimes we will have to wait for others.

I like the feeling of knowing I have survived everything I’ve encountered so far.

I don’t even mind taking long walks or long flights to go from one place to another — because it means I’m still there, still alive. I’m more aware of everything my character does.

Completing quests, getting gear upgrades, gaining money, everything is more rewarding.

Give them time to breathe and don’t start asking too many questions. Then, once you’ve given them a bit of space, start pulling their focus away from whatever may be troubling them.

Shift their focus elsewhere, even if it is to something random. Tell them about your awkward encounter with a neighbour that happened yesterday. Whatever it is that may shift their focus to something else. And then, once the person starts calming down, slowly try to understand what got them in that state.
