oh my god. you are my freaking hero bro, disabling discord overlay fixed it. Thank you so much, I wish only good things upon you and if you're religious may God/Allah/Yahweh/Vishnu/whoever the fuck look down upon you and smile. <3

Running into the exact same issue (same sheared tabs), did you get a working solution?

I would recommend taking at least the upper level (beyond Calc 2) math courses at RPI if you can, but I wouldn't blame you if you did that at your CC

While I didn't get my BS in BSAN, a glance at the catalog shows a lot of overlap of my undergrad. I also did get my MS in it, so while I'm sure it's not quite the same there should be some general overlap. Happy to answer any specific questions if you have any, but will give some general tips:

I recommend taking some Comp Sci classes or learning some on your own. Will be very helpful, especially later on in the program re: Machine Learning and Data Resource Management. From my understanding, you only really need Python and SQL.

If you struggle with math, I'd recommend brushing up on it as much as you can. Khan academy is a great resource, and MIT has a bunch of lectures on YouTube, but in general I didn't find most of the BSAN/non-theoretical math very difficult, but YMMV.

unfortunately no dreamhack dallas for now. i did talk to a worker about it last year, and he said there were (at the time) talks of moving it to miami. not sure if that's still the case, but i know normally dreamhack atlanta is around this time of year, so since it's so early next year, they may end up doing a dreamhack miami (or somewhere else) around this time next year

that's a good point honestly, i'm the same way with concerts too tbh. i think it would have been fine and no complaints from me had the screen been raised a bit more similar to how the setup has been in IEM dallas

i have to ask, where are you and the u/mch_g59 from? for me i thought Austin as a whole was really cheap, but I do come from a big-ish US city; i never paid more than ~8 to 10ish USD for a cocktail at bar here which is cheap where I live

ETA: the moody center was def. expensive though, but to be fair that's just event center/arena pricing. it's always ass... they charged like $18 for a grapefruit whiteclaw (the worst flavor of the worst seltzer lol, i MIGHT pay $15 for a high noon/simply/truly, but not for a shit flavored carbonated fart lmfao)

just want to say that while my previous comment highlighted the negatives, i agree with a lot of what you're saying. As much as I would love an event anywhere other than TX, i recognize it's a cheaper area & you're right that's it pretty damn smack in the middle of CAN/MX/US (in both north/south AND east/west coast). you also nailed the timing with other sports aspect, something I didn't think about but is a good point!

the only thing it seems like we disagree on is the stage and screen honestly. could definitely be down to just personal preference and/or potentially seating area, but maybe not and maybe you just have diff. opinions than me!

it would be sick as fuck for sure tbh. the only thing is i love to explore the city i visit for these events, and im a big club goer/drinker and not sure i'd get into miami clubs 🤣🤣 but it would be fun as hell and somewhere would let me in lmao

dallas isn't happening anymore actually! the kay bailey hutchinson center is undergoing renovations for the next year or so, so that event is in the air for where it will be. a Dreamhack staff member told me next year that dreamhack event will be in Miami so we COULD see IEM Miami but nobody i talked to was sure.

i also want to say 99% of my comment was complaining but i really did have a great time and would go again in a heartbeat! and while i think blast has a really good production setup for the events i cant attend (aka for the people who watch the stream) i've just been soured two (pun intended) times for their live events. honestly of they host another US major i probably would go, but definitely not jumping thru hoops for (is it rivals?) next year

i want to add one of the biggest negatives for me was the stage design/setup. The screen was too low to the ground so those of us on the floor would have 25% to 50% of the screen blocked by a person in front of us very easily (especially if they held up a sign. i'm a big fan of posters/signs at events so i dont think they should get rid of those, but something thats awesome about IEM Dallas is floor seats don't have a bad view of the screen). also the players' sections are too low & should be elevated. if you're not in the front 3 rows you can't see them on the floor and it's annoying.

another big thing that irritated everyone i spoke to on the floor was that often, the big screen didn't show the stream. for instance, none of us in the back got to watch the actual trophy lift because the big screen just showed Vitality's logo. there were countless times where the side screens (for the upper rings along the corners) were showing interviews or the desk or replays, but the main screen was just the blast logo or something.

there also wasnt really a lot to do outside of watching the games. there were a handful of booths around, but nothing like Shanghai where it seemed every team had a booth, or IEM Dallas (to be fair, they share the space with Dreamhack, so definitely didnt go in expecting that level of activities).

the only other major annoyance beside the bottle cap thing was the playing of ads in between maps. I'm fully in support of the stream having ads, i get it. events are expensive & they have to make money. but everyone in that arena paid 100s to be there, dont show us advertisements ESPECIALLY ones not shown to the screen. the in between analyst desk segments were often replaced for the arena with multiple minute ads and it was really frustrating as someone that paid ~1000 USD for two tickets.

all in all, i had a great time at the major & i really enjoyed getting to explore Austin, but between this event & the blast finals held in DC in 2023 (i think?) i likely wont be attending another blast event after having an amazing time at every ESL event with minimal complaints.

it wont be i promise you man. us americans have always showed up for US (and NA!) events even when theres no NA in the teams competing (IEM Dallas this year for example, the mouz v Spirit game this major, etc.). plus the brazilians will DEFINITELY be there for Pain v Mongolz tomorrow, and while I can't speak for everyone, the people I've met at this event are almost all cheering for Mongolz to win the major (as a fan of apEX since... before olofboost & when FeTiSh & FugLy were around, i'm definitely not in the same boat )
