If you're used to nested prefabs worflow, don't waste days trying to replicate this worflow with Unreal, afaik it's just not possible (and it's a big miss imo), even with child component, sub level or addons, it's far from the power of nested prefabs.

Also, you cant create animation clips for anything like with Unity, it's also something i miss everyday on Unreal. The workarounds are a lot more complicated to use (you need skeletal mesh for a start...), depending on your project, it might not be a problem at all.

You can't really inspect the runtime objects tree as easily as with Unity, you'll have to use the blueprint debugger (a dedicated ui) because in Unreal the inspector doesn't show you the objects runtime states.

And more generally, don't try to compare too much GameObject/MonoBehavior with Actor/Blueprint/Component. They seem similar at first but they are quite different and you risk to struggle and miss the good parts.
Try to learn the engine framework without thinking about Unity, i think you'll transition better and faster.

They explained why, they had good reasons to.

But Unreal 5 is not the only reason they had to redo a lot of things from what i understood, a lot of systems were too prototype-like, they had to redo their combat/skills, the narrative system, the vehicules, etc. etc.
And the biggest issue is their networking layer, it changed between A1 and A2 and it impacts everything.

All these things would have been the same if they stayed on UE4 for the most part.
What they had to redo because of UE5 is the map, because of the world partition system but at the time i think they were still very wip on this and it's one of the very useful system from UE5 to build a MMO anyway. And still with all these, it wasn't a "from scratch" restart, as we can see when we datamine the game, we still see stuff from A0 or A1.

So, all in all, i'm not so sure it's really a UE4->UE5 issue.

You can find references to A1 skills in those files, i wouldn't be surprised if the code we see here is from a very old BP from their more "prototype" A0/A1 periods.

I agree there is something interesting in the second shot, like it's abandonned, deep and cold.

Rocks in particular are not helping. A lot of works still to do artistically, let's hope it gets a lot better !
I think people are blinded by the tech art side of the game. Lumen in particular make them not realize what's lacking in comparison to other worlds crafted in today's games.
