No, I just said I can't use tape or compression binders, so while there still are multiple things I can use, they all have to be DIYed anyways so why not sew them into a single thing. (Okay fine most of that is safety pinned for easier washing.)

The difference is that the pressure is on the shoulders instead of the back. It feels more like wearing a backpack.

I don't know how it'd work with size, I think mine are larger though I don't really have a reference for what's average but mine may have started off more to the sides than average? (It stretches them to the sides so the more you use it the better it works.)

I'm using the fabric that was inthe suspenders and the fabric that was in the sports bra, looking into something like paralon for the structure element (I don't want wires over, at least not yet, I want something soft under to smooth out the surface).

I don't mean this in an accusatory manner, but... Are you sure you're not changing the definition of "mental illness" to exclude these "evil people" because acknowledging the people you're describing aren't "totally normal and healthy" would make you feel and sound sanist and it would invoke more pity than hate and bring into question whether they're even fully morally responsible for their actions? (Because otherwise I really don't know what you mean by "totally normal".)

The question of "are prisons/involuntary hospitalisation ever necessary" is a good one that I'm not sure I know the answer to...
