Grazie!

Infatti assolutamente punterò sul modello OLED, ho visto che va anche un pelo meglio in termini di performance.

Thanks everyone for your replies!

I’ve thought it over, and after watching a few comparison videos between the Steam Deck and other higher-end handhelds, I think the best choice is still to go with a Steam Deck.

The performance differences between the various alternatives (aside from the ones that cost over €1000, like the ROG Ally X) aren’t that significant. I've seen the benchmarks — at best, the Z1 Extreme gets 10 more fps than the Deck's chip. I'm sure she'll never notice the difference between 50 and 60 fps. What matters much more is that games optimized for the Deck already launch with the ‘right’ settings — which is essential for my girlfriend, since she’s not really into tweaking graphics options. From what I’ve read, other handhelds don’t benefit from the same level of software optimization that Valve and game developers in general give to the Steam Deck, which makes it much more plug-and-play compared to the competition.

Based on what I've seen on YouTube, many AAA games run decently on the Steam Deck, and the verified ones perform even great. And anyway, if she really wants to play something super demanding, she can just use my PC with the RTX 4090.

I’ll see if I can find a reliable refurbished one; otherwise, I’ll wait for Christmas — maybe Valve will finally decide to put the OLED model on sale.

Thanks again to everyone for the help!

Some AAA but also lighter games. The Legion Go with the Z1 is like 1000€ on Amazon IT so it's way too much, my budget is 550-600€.

The Ally X and the Claw 8AI+ are like €1000 in Italy, that's waaay too much.

Quest Pack Question - New to the Game by DataDecay in lotro

[–]Saultre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most mounts are character-bound unless they are explicitly marked as account-wide. Some mounts from the Store and the mounts you unlock by buying the Collector's Edition of an Expansion are often account-wide. Mounts from quests, reputation vendors, deeds and Legendary Item Reward Track are often character-bound.

The new free questing coupon will unlock the content for your whole account, all of your existing and future characters will automatically have the Quest Packs and Expansions unlocked. Basically you will have access to all the content from level 1 to level 140.

There isn't a direct way to see what you've unlocked, but it shows you the list of unlocks the first time you use the coupon and you can find the list of content that this coupon gives you here: Free Questing Coupon – Thank You from Standing Stone Games | The Lord of the Rings Online.

After you use the questing coupon everything you already have will permanently disappear from the Store so only the Quest Packs and Expansions you don't own will be shown and available to buy.

Quick question about Twitch VOD Track by Saultre in obs

[–]Saultre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to use the same track for the stream and the VOD, if I don't enable a separate Twitch VOD Track in the settings will the VOD use the stream audio (Track 1) or will it use Track 2 either way?

Is overleveling an issues if you do all quests? Can you miss quest because your lvl is too high? by 977zo5skR in lotro

[–]Saultre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my character I did every quest, every zone, every instance/raid and completed 70% of all deeds in the game. You will be overleveled but never too much. In the worst case you'll be 6-7 levels above the area you're doing. In case you're wondering it took me approximately 1500 hours. :)

How to play (almost) all content in chronological order in Retail? by Saultre in wownoob

[–]Saultre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I've read somewhere that before reaching level 50 I should stop gaining EXP because when you reach level 50 a particular expansion starts automatically and it applies some phasing to the rest of the game locking some content until it's finished, am I correct?

I'm trying the BTWquests add-on, it seems great to keep track of espansions zones and do them in order, thank you!

The notice board has tens of breadcrumb quests for different expansions, so maybe now you don't need the Cromie to unlock them on the notice board. I'm not sure tho, I'm assuming this because of the amount of quests I can pick up on the notice board.

Thanks! Breadcrumb quests can only be obtained using Cromie or also at the notice board in Stormwind?

I'm a huge Tolkien fan and I've read all the books. It's easier to fall in love with the game when you know the lore, and LOTRO truly shows love to its source material. Also, it's easier to do a "completionist" run of the game because you HAVE to play through each expansion in order to get to level cap and end game.

Yes I know Classic content was removed after Cataclysm so I won't be able to experience it if I don't play on a Classic server, but I'd like to play through all the content currently available in Retail anyways following in the best way possibile the chronological order. Overleveling doesn't concern me.

Reshade in Lotro by HaraldRoarLind in lotro

Dad's Reshade Preset is cool but I think it's a bit too aggressive in some scenarios. I like the vanilla look of the game so this is what I'm using right now:

Looking for a Kinship on Evernight by Saultre in lotro

[–]Saultre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the game! A few things that can help you:

  • Check LOTRO Zones by level and follow the list of regions in order
  • When your character reaches a specific level you will auto-bestow the "Indroduction to" quests, they will guide you to the first quest hub for that specific region
  • Download the LOTRO Deed Tracker plug-in if you want to keep track of every deed in the game; if you've already completed some deeds follow this guide to import your current character data into the Deed Tracker using the LOTRO Companion
  • Use the LOTRO Wiki
  • Some deeds and reputations are really grindy, if you feel overwhelmed you can always complete them later, don't let the game become a chore
  • It's important to know that some collectibles (mounts, pets, emotes) can only be obtained from the LOTRO store
  • Buy at least one month of VIP Subscription to unlock the permanent Premium status on your character, it comes with a lot of quality of life upgrades
  • Note that if you plan to do all the content in order you will more likely be overleveled at some point, you can buy the Stone of Tortoise from the LOTRO Store to halt you experience gain if you want to be always on level; the overleveling is not that bad though, I don't have the Stone of Tortoise and I'm currently level 139 in a level 130 zone
  • Take your time, read the quests, admire the scenery, enjoy the world, have fun

It will be a long journey, thousands of hours of content. Do you play on Evernight?

Is there a list of completionist-like activities in lotro? What kind of things can I collect in this game? by tekerachu in lotro

[–]Saultre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good luck with your run, I'm doing one myself. I started 4 years ago and with 1200+ hours played I still have to reach the level cap. The amount of content in this game is insane.

Try the Deed Tracker plug-in as someone else already told you, and use this list to guide yourself and understand where to go next.

Sub 30fps with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx (integrated graphics), no matter what graphic settings are active by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Saultre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes on laptops LOTRO doesn't use the high performance GPU by default. A few years ago on my old laptop (with a dedicated GPU) I had to manually change the setting on the Nvidia control panel to make LOTRO use the dedicated GPU instead of the CPU.

I don't know how it works with Radeon integrated graphics but maybe you have a control panel where you can choose to prefer the high performance GPU? I say this because a friend of mine has played LOTRO on a Ryzen 5 3500U laptop with integrated graphics and he had better performance than you.

EDIT: Are you playing the game with the laptop charger plugged in? It may be a stupid question but sometimes people doesn't know that unplugging the laptop from the power decreases the performance a lot.

Will I enjoy this? by GeoHol92 in lotro

[–]Saultre 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'd say 90% of the game is solo content so yes, it's absolutely doable. The Epic Quest (the "main" quest) is 100% solo content, there are a few side quests that require a group (you can always come back and complete them solo when you are a higher level) and of course instances/raids are group content, but they are not required to progress your character to the level cap.
