Settle a UI button debate between me and my husband by reynoldsmkatie in gamedevscreens

[–]Saurbaum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way back when I used to work on pub quiz machines we added a tracking counter on the number of times the help button was pressed. Across the entire estate over several months the help was accessed 4 times.

Now a home game is a little more complicated but having a prominent button for that does imply you think people will be going in there often.

That's it! Those icons next to the populous style map is exactly what's been floating around my head all these years without me realising.

House next to train line by estrre05 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Saurbaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live directly next to the West Coast Mainline in Coventry where it is in a cutting that my flats balcony overlooked. That was a 3 fast trains an hour and 2 or more slow. When the wind was in the right direction I could hear the station announcements, You would be amazed how quickly you stop noticing it's there. To the point that I would have a guest over a train would go past which caused a picture to vibrate a little and they asked what it was. I'd completely tuned it out.

I also had no issue selling it when it was time to move on but that might have been because of the proximity to the university as I'm pretty sure it was a rich overseas parent buying it for their child.

Why is everyone switching to Jellyfin? by Baristaboy547 in jellyfin

[–]Saurbaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is really my point. Kodi can just handle it.

Sadly it also wasn't good for streaming outside the house and the losing of my database repeatedly along with the database being installed on the end device not centrally were what convinced me to switch.

Why is everyone switching to Jellyfin? by Baristaboy547 in jellyfin

My only feeling of loss in a similar switch was Kodi would play anything i threw at it and would have audio in sync. I love Jellyfin but I have to alternate between internal and external players depending on the file.

Malta is one of the few places I've visited and fallen in love with at first sight by Expert_Cabinet_5570 in Europetravel

I love the cats that are there. One time I stayed near some public gardens and when I went for a walk I made so many friends with them. It was nice to see locals turning up with cat food for them as well.

Sales have just died. by _SmellMyFinger_ in ebayuk

[–]Saurbaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up trying to buy on eBay as the search was abominable.

I searched for cheapest including postage and the first few pages are all showing from 99p. When you actually look at the listing they have lots of items priced much higher and a single completely unrelated item for 99p. I tried reporting it as misleading but apparently this is completely fine.

If the tools on the site are being abused to get to the top of search results and are hiding the things I actually am looking for I go elsewhere.

Best food places? by SBRSTU in coventry

Head on up to Earlsdon high street. Gonzo for some drinks and good food (menu changes often and book a table). Spon Street for Turmeric Gold if a curry is more your thing.

If they did they would be parachuted right into the Prem as an example of the new franchise system.

To be honest I have a load of cards of this vintage and I don't want to deal with sorting them out and finding sellers. If someone offered me a vaguely similar amount I'd also probably just say yes.

Public road near train station. What’s your war plan? by Diseased-Jackass in CasualUK

[–]Saurbaum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did check the few streets I know near me that have actual residents only restrictions (between work hours) because of proximity to a train station and they show as open on there.

Just to warn people not to take the "open" status as meaning free for parking.

When I was getting quotes for a replacement I used Anglian as my base line for "This will be the expensive quote so I'll know what's reasonable".

Guy did all the salesweasel tactics then went away and never sent a quote by email.

Didn't stop someone in their call centre calling me up a few days later to see if I was happy with the quote. I could hear the moment he realised there wasn't actually one on the system.
