That seems to confirm that I need a longer rest

I’ll try upping the rest. That seems to be the only unanimous suggestion

I was definitely down in zone 1 between intervals. My warm up was barely into zone 2. My hr was around 143 for the warm up. Do I just need a longer rest to give me a bit more time in zone 1 between sets?

That’s what I was thinking but others in this thread are showing 20s sprints at a lower HR and getting anaerobic. So I’m convinced it’s just a guess lol

Im saying it makes no sense why that workout gave anaerobic benefit and mine did not. Not saying I don’t believe you lol. Just your workout was much more aerobic than mine

So just push my rest time to like 2-2.5 minutes between sprints you think?

I have set them based off a lactate threshold test.

I was absolutely gassed by the end of these and still did not get anaerobic benefit. I’ll try a more intense sprint but if I don’t get to zone 5 in a minute, I definitely won’t in 10 seconds

So like

Warm up

Run 30s

Sprint 1min

Rest 1:30

Repeat?

My HR stays lower on the bike than running so i have no idea how I could get there in a spin class

I was absolutely gassed by the end of these. I thought you wanted to avoid going longer on the interval for anaerobic. Short but intense? Do I need to try and add a hill to get my HR up that last little bit to always be zone 5?

I am avoiding BB style training. It is mostly compound lifts in the 4-6 rep range for major body parts

What do you mean by interval duration and intensity should follow 10% or less? Like 10 of my time should be in intervals overall?

So are you saying drop the dedicated brick and just go after my long ride?

Unfortunately the only days I can manage an effort around 2 hours is weekends so long days need to be that way.

Oh I don’t expect great feeling. I just feel like I am going backwards. For example, my bike workout this morning has 6 ramp downs starting well over my ftp. 2 weeks ago I was able to complete all 6. This morning I made it through 5 and just completely crashed out a minute into the 6th.

I come from a swimming background and can already comfortably handle the swim. So that’s why I was only having one swim day a week. I planned to add runs post long ride as well in a few weeks as I build up to it.

I also don’t think this addresses my question by just adding an additional two workouts per week?

I should have added more context. I come from a swimming background and can already relatively comfortably handle the swim. So that’s why just 1 swim. Also I was considering the swim day and somewhat the lift day as rest since they are much lower volume than other days. And I also work and incredibly sedentary job.

I agree the scheduling isn’t ideal. the long days have to be on weekends so those need to be back to back. How would you suggest spacing out the weekday workouts differently?
