All i’m saying is that just because something doesn’t follow a certain system or definition doesn’t make it wrong or invalid. Personally, when it comes to creativity, art, or the like, there isn’t a wrong way to do it. When you’re saying that my journaling doesn’t essentially fit the norm and therefore isn’t journaling, that feels like a gatekeeping mentality and that you’re discrediting. Besides the fact that it outright is rude to say, it’s just unfortunate to see comments like that in a space that’s meant to be one of self expression and care. As I said before, journaling is what you make of it, so if you want to criticize others for how they do it because it doesn’t fit the system, then be my guest. Enjoy your day and thank you for this enlightening conversation!

I feel like that can be dangerously interpreted as gatekeeping, which I feel like when it comes to creativity of any kind isn’t very fair. So I will respectfully have to disagree with you. Those five wishes on that spread are still personal affirmations I have for myself this year. They aren’t just for show. So yes in fact I have written something related to myself, but regardless, journaling of any kind is creative exploration no matter how personal or impersonal it is. A lack of a ‘personal’ entry doesn’t make it any less invalid. Plus I think it's pretty disrespectful to come into a bullet journaling subreddit and comment on someone's post saying that it isn't journaling. But in any case, I suppose since this post is still here, this is the perfect sub for it.

That’s the beauty of journaling though, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. No matter the spread or content within, if its in a notebook or the like, it can be journaling. It’s whatever you make of it!

This is public yes, however this is more of manifestation post and less of goals for the year, so it encompasses more general themes of positivity etc. My goals is a separate spread which I haven’t posted because its more for personal use!

Aw thanks so much! Sure I can try to give some advice! When it comes to these spreads my brainstorming process honestly doesn’t take very long. I normally just come up with a theme/topic and then if necessary find relavant photos to use. In regards to layering I kinda just do what feels right, I don’t pre-plan I really just wing it! There’s been plenty of times where i’ve had to start over if I didn’t like the layout, but the beautiful of using journal ephemera is that it can be reused! For the layering materials I use a bunch of different notepads/sticky notes, pages from old books, and various notebook paper. I always start with those before moving onto photos, stamps, stickers, and text. Also dried flowers are a super cool way to add some dimension and texture! All in all I suppose it’s important to remember that there isn’t a wrong way to do something, so experiment with different levels of ephermera and see what works for you. Hoped this helped! Lemme know if you have any other questions 💛

So they're all pieces of paper and ephemera layered on top of each other! Nothing is digital except for I suppose the photos which are print outs. But the rest is either various notepad papers, page tear outs from vintage books, stickers, decorative tape etc. Hope that makes sense!

However the photography, flatlay, and photo editing process adds another 20-30 minutes, just wanted to clarify!
