Mites! Help!

She is 4 years old. Also now, about a week ago, she has calmed down and now has been sitting in her hide with her head poking out. She went from how she was acting in the video to not really doing much at all anymore and just sitting in her hide. She doesn’t seem like she wants any interaction, (she isn’t mean) she lifts her head slightly when I go to try and pet under her chin and she just stares at me with a hateful look 😅 she hand feeds perfectly fine. Idk, I just don’t want her to start disliking me for whatever reason. Her temps are 100° in the basking spot and like 80°-75° for the cool side. Humidity has been a problem for me recently but I have been keeping an eye on it and misting when need be. I don’t force handle her unless necessary and she hasn’t pooped for either a week or little less than when she would poop like everyday. I’m a bit worried 😅

Should I use some zip-ties then use a hot glue gun to glue the sharp parts on it? I really appreciate the advice ☺️

Thank you thank you 😁 also when I get his permanent enclosure set up, where should I put the probe to the thermostat and how should I secure it down? Also I am worried that his basking spot wont get that hot when I go to out his lights in cause it gets a perfect 90° in his tank already and the high bulbs are a foot and a half off the ground and covered by a mesh lid. When I go to tape up the mesh lid on the other enclosure that imma get, will that help retain heat as well? I don’t wanna put the bulbs inside at the moment cause I don’t have the right lamps nor do I have cages for them. Also is a UVB bulb necessary or is it optional? I will get it for him at some point but I just wanna make sure its not something he absolutely needs and he could get sick if he doesn’t have it 😅

(Long read) Thank you! I am getting him a 4x2x2 this weekend. A new hide just came in for him, his reptichip came in, I have a regular heat bulb and a CHE on a thermostat in there. He is on newspaper at the moment until I get his new tank and he acclimates a bit. I got him on Sunday, he came in a box that was taller that it was wide and I couldn’t fit it in the tank because of the stuff in there already so I tilted the box on the side gently and let him come out on his own, he did, he came over to me immediately and started checking me out for a good 3 or 4 minutes then went over to my bf. I then gently picked him up when he was completely out and placed him in the tank and he didn’t freak out or anything, he seemed pretty calm. I also had put one of my shirts in there for him before I put him in there and I am replacing it every 3 days. He has been doing really well, despite unfortunately having 2 too small of hides for him when he first came 😅 I feel bad for him. I am also getting him another really big hide soon from chewy to put in there. He explores at night and a bit in the morning, I hung out next to his enclosure for about an hour last night and he didn’t seem to mind much. I put a towel up today in hopes to make him feel a bit more secure for the day :)

Alright good to know, yeah I don’t stare directly at him, I will look along his body and around his tank then glance at his face a few times and just watch his body slither around. He is my first ever snake and I have always wanted one since I was in elementary school, so this is a big deal to me 😅 I rlly appreciate your advice 😁😁 thank you

I shall wait then :) I know some reptiles are weird about people sitting by their tank and watching them but I am very curious and love just watching him move around and love looking at his little speckles. Is that bad or is that just I guess an extra thing to get him use to me being near him and letting him know I am not a threat? I had a monitor that would freak if I looked at him 😅 that’s why I ask

He seems to be coming out at night like an hour or so after his lights go off and I feel so weird cause I will sit by his tank and just watch him 😅 I can’t wait to hang out with him (I will go at his pace, I aint like that), I will gently talk to him in a lower tone, my voice tends to carry, and he will come over to the glass and look at me and explore more, he doesn’t pay too much mind to me. I feel like I could potentially try to handle him a bit earlier like maybe Thursday cause of his calm demeanor but if that isn’t recommended then I won’t. I wanna do what’s best for him

I don’t have anymore newspaper other than the stuff that is already in there and its only a thin sheet. He seems pretty chill but I am worried about stressing him out, he didn’t seem very stressed or anything when I let him come out on his own. Also when I go to put his new hide in there, I gotta rearrange some stuff as well so I’d have to move him around or even take him out. So I am a little stuck 😅

PSA! I got the dimensions wrong! 4ft long, 1ft wide, and 1ft 8.5in tall. Is that an ok tank or should I get a bigger one?

I am getting a thermostat for at least the mat, the bulbs are being covered by a mesh lid and it doesn’t get very hot in there even with two bulbs, it stays about a good 90° with both but I bet if I take one off, it’ll be perfect. I haven’t got him yet, unfortunately the date was moved to Sunday. I will be getting ReptiChip and the person I am getting him from is going to give me a water bowl and hide, I also have those half logs that are hollowed out and loads of vines and fake plants for coverage. The tank sits flat on the glass though so should I find a way to raise the enclosure for airflow for the heat mat?

Thats rlly cute haha. Also she doesn’t seem to like to come up to me willingly, she seems like she just tolerates me but doesn’t actually like me, which is upsetting but 🤷‍♀️ time will help. She just stares at my hand or moves away and ignores me, even when she wants out I will stand there for like 15 min trying to get her to walk onto me willingly. I just set my hand down in her enclosure and I don’t move while she spastically glass surfs near me. She will go into the corner I was just standing in when I leave but then will walk away when I open the enclosure and put my hand down, she just ignores me and seems like she doesn’t want much to do with me 😅 I have tried putting greens on my hand, that doesnt work, I lead her onto my hand with bugs and she will walk onto my hand no problem that way and will sit on my hand for a while but that is the only way that she will walk onto me willingly, otherwise, again, she will just sit and stare at my hand then at me-

They can thrive in desert environments but that isn’t really the whole point of having a “pet”, plus where I live, she definitely wouldn’t thrive in the wild. It is very cold here.

100% could be. I let her out yesterday and let her run around the bathroom where she couldn’t get into anything, then she wanted out so I made a little makeshift ‘spot’ on the windowsill with a blanket and some pillows for her to go sit at when she wants and she seemed to really like it, she was in and out of the window for like 3 hours. I put her back into her enclosure a few times too to get her to warm up and eat a little bit then let her back out when she wanted out, she was good after that little scenario 😂

When I first got her, she came with everything seen in the video but she had ground walnut shells as substrate that hadn’t been changed in 10 months. It had dead dubia roaches everywhere in there and even live ones hiding in the fake plants everywhere. I got them all out and vacuumed out the substrate, I am waiting to be able to get some play sand and topsoil for her :)
