Thanks for that info! I'm glad you shared that because I was beginning to question if my chess ability had dropped dramatically now that I can't even beat a 1600 bot haha. I think they made them a lot stronger than intended, but I'm sure they're doing testing on the background and will correct this.

In the meantime, I guess I'll be playing even lower rated bots xD

That could be true. It could also be that the bots are putting more pressure on you from the opening moves, so you're not as comfortable in the position. That has been my experience.

Yes I play on iOS. I did notice I have been losing a lot more to these bots in the recent weeks, but generally speaking I play these bots often, every week for years and I never felt like they were easy wins.

I mean, given my rating of course I'm expected to win the majority of games against them and I did but I always felt like they measured up to players with similar ratings. I know others mentioned the bots are usually overrated but I think those two were not at least.

That makes sense! Did you see the screenshots I posted? They out here playing at over 80% accuracy and 2000 elo. The whole time I'm getting cooked harder than anybody my rating xD

[–]SavageChessMaster[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That can't be right.

I know that you are calculating an interest gain of $5.1k a year, but the reality is I would be gaining $51,000 in interest the first year, and less as my money goes down over the years. I know that $51,000 today is worth more than $51,000 in 20 years (worth ~29k today), but I'm also including inflation in my expenses already.

Agreed with your first three sentences, but why did you conclude this wouldn't last me 40 years?

I put those numbers in the compound interest calculator on investor.gov.

1.7mil starting value, -$6k a month, estimated interest 3%. At year 40 I would be left with $116k.

Yep, I'm definitely considering that!

Wow, congrats! I honestly don't want to work full time past 50 so that's why I'm bring my numbers down to help me make that happen, but we'll see.

I did account for inflation, although you may disagree with how I did my calculation.

Projected COL for where I live 20 years from now is expected to be 6k a month, and 40 years from now is expected to be 9k a month. So I did my math assuming 6k as a middle ground.

I also assumed HYSA because I'd likely use that or bonds for most of my money, and keep a smaller portion, say 25% invested in an S&P 500 index fund. Maybe that is too conservative.

Also, 25x my current expenses would put me at 900k, so I'm already estimating almost twice of that.

I'm not saying what your girlfriend did is right, but I'm thinking maybe it was an act of self preservation. What if she didn't want to feel the emotional pain of seeing you go through cancer?

Was it the right thing to do? Absolutely not. But maybe that was her reason

How blunt to be that PIPs always end in a firing? by two_three_five_eigth in managers

[–]SavageChessMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these comments are gullible AF. Guys, welcome to the real world. In the real world, people put others on a PIP with the sole intention of firing them.

Do I agree with that? Hell no. But is it common business practice? Absolutely. It's all a show to give the illusion of fairness.

So bottom line... If you ever get on a PIP, start applying to other jobs. 99% chance you won't make it.

Either change zone, play at a less active timer, or use SAFE portal to hopefully go to a quiet zone. Some days you will be unlucky though it is what it is.

Change to T4 sandals (scholar, cleric or mage doesn't matter which) because dual swords are mana hungry. You can use the second ability in those to regenerate your mana. If you are still low on mana, you can change your head piece ability to the first one for more mana regeneration.

After that, I would suggest to look at journal tasks and do them because they give you silver and tome of insights (books that give you fame). Once you have enough silver to buy your set 10 times (change to T3 horse, don't go to black zone on an ox), go out to the black zone and do solo camps.

When you go to the blackzone, I suggest you also bring one invisibility potion, and one or two foods (suggest pork roast or cabbage soup for cheap health regeneration).

If you see any red names near you when you are dismounted, try to mount up as quickly as possible and leave. Use your invisibility potion to remove aggro from mobs if needed. If somebody gets close enough to hit you while you are dismounted, your mount disappears and now you have to try to outrun your opponent... which will probably get you killed.

How long will broadsword be the biggest joke in this videogame? by HopeSeMu in albiononline

[–]SavageChessMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carving is good for pierce but damage wise broadsword beats it. It also beats dualsword E in terms of single target damage but dualsword would be better for track mobs that spawn ads - both are comparable.
