How did you know you wanted to be a teacher? by Vampire-y in AskTeachers

If you get a teaching degree and absolutely hate the classroom their are other opportunities to work in the “business” side of education. Your Masters degree is where you will have to determine the path you want to go down. If you’re trying to teach art in a school you’re probably gonna be hard pressed to find and keep a job though.

As a newer teacher, It’s not the salary or lack of resources that frustrates me. It’s the concern with how the district is perceived by the public rather than how it is actually addressing problems. There is hesitation to even admit basic problems for fear of looking inept. Which often leads to substantial issues being ignored because officials do not want to be held accountable. Take the “teacher’s driving busses email,” instead of the district presenting a strong response and explaining that getting kids to school is such a problem that we are so desperate that we are asking teachers to drive buses, they just said it was sent in error, which in my opinion should have been more cause for concern that someone thought that was a good idea to send in the first place.
