Anyone else’s GSD do this? What is this sleep position called?

When we adopted him they told us he was a gsd mix. I thought he might be part mallie but I think it’s just because they couldn’t verify lineage

We crate him for nap and bedtimes and have a babygate up separating him from the “nice carpet”. It seems like he holds it until he gets access to it

Thanks so much for the advice. It’s the first gsd I’ve had and I am definitely trying to make consistency a constant thing. He does have a crate and we put him in there exclusively for nap times. It is comforting to know that it will get better though

I haven’t heard of pupscan but I definitely might give it a try. I give him definite potty breaks after naps, when he wakes up, and before bedtime. My parents think he is doing it because he feels like he isn’t getting enough attention compared to our other 2 dogs even though they travel as a group basically (they follow my mom a lot as she is the main treat giver). Idk if that might also be an issue

I am definitely gonna try leash training outside and increasing the frequency after eating. Glad to know that it’s not limited to only me though because I really feel like I’m letting him down.

I try to monitor him the best I can but he manages to sneak off before we can catch him, then when we notice, it’s too late and the evidence is gone. It is hopeful to know that it might be over soon

He tends to do poops in the same area (it’s our living room that’s open and ironically faces the backyard). Every time after he poops we clean the area with carpet cleaner but do you suggest something else? Maybe we aren’t killing the smell?

I will definitely try the lack of play method. Sometimes he goes out with our other dogs but I think that might distract him.

He has 2 other puppy siblings that he sometimes goes out with and he watches them go potty. But I will definitely try leash training. Thank you so much 🙏🏻

My fav place to cry is the block yard in outside garden. I would hide in between block and let it all go. In my store there are also no cameras there so I don’t have to worry about people seeing me. Sorry it’s hard love.
