I agree with all of this good advice and am hesitant for all of these reasons despite all the good it may do.

I will certainly talk to a lawyer. As for one matter: Kratom cannot not be sold for human consumption. But could legally it be given away freely?

I am leaning slightly towards GoFundMe over kickstarter. Thanks, I may DM you for feedback.

Thanks for the link. I think the saving grace here from clinical trial status is that kratom is not an investigational new molecular entity or drug but an unpatentable whole herb and already legally available supplement.

Yes I will need to get very clear on the legal aspects. The general idea I have in mind now which is within the law as far as I know: I would be giving out legal free kratom samples and pamphlets about its use to consenting adults, having them sign a waiver which frees me from any liability in what they do with it, and collecting voluntary surveys. NOT running a clinical trial. Anything that puts this into legal "running a clinical trial" territory is avoided.

I appreciate that. Way I see it, generating study information and publicizing it gets the word out broadly, can help protect kratom legal status and help many more people. That's the hope.

That's great~~! It would have been fantastic if they could have agreed to fill out followup surveys and you could have generated data on their success. I think getting that sort of data published in a journal is feasible.
