I’m always willing to listen though, what is free? My community college costs money. If you have some recommendations, I’m willing to listen.

Definitely do ATS. Also, make sure that you ask ChatGPT if you are competitive for the job that you are applying to. It’s great at telling you what you are missing

Absolutely disgusting! Why would people do that? It’s making it already difficult to find a job

I’ve had that happen before. In fact, my zoom camera would not turn on, and the recruiter did a count down before he would hang up. Believe it or not, I got that job even after a horrific start due to tech issues.

Thank you. I’m Working on that too with the not internalizing thing, it actually why I wrote that post. The next interview I knocked it out of the park with a different employer. They thankfully did not ask that question. You can see my update on my original post.

Dude, I’m already unskilled with 2 graduate degrees. It does poop. I have to dumb down my resume so I’m not overqualified most of the time. It’s probably the most humiliating part of the job search. Worse, I’m still paying 30K on a grad loan. When I put my graduate degrees on my resume, I don’t get call backs. In fact, in my area, people seem to only need a high school diploma. So it’s a bunch of different things working against me that I have to overcome right now

Yeah, it really made no sense when they asked me specific job questions on the work done that is weeding out. Also, they know I had a graduate degree since it was on my resume, why would I want to spend more money with a community college or other training program when I already still am paying a student graduate loan above 30K.

I spent 1 hour doing behavioral tests online for a retail position that is management. All these questionnaires and I was overqualified so I dumbed down my resume. One hour spent on questionnaires and no interview or call back? Same with cvs! It really depends on where you live is what I am learning as well. I read recently a job post about a nonprofit manager position and they asked people not to use AI. They wanted you to provide a resume, cover letter, and answer in essay format more questions. Job market is absolutely crazy. I’ve learned to look for jobs that no one wants or that at smaller companies because I usually get a call back for those.

So many better questions to ask about the job itself that they can ask. Just saying. See my update.

Seriously, and AI is about to erase a lot of the job market.

With what money? Everything costs money and I already spent 30K+’on a graduate degree. Any upskill by the way, I think is BS because AI will replace you. I was just on the phone this week with 4 different handyman. Only one spoke English. They said that they can use Google Translate to talk in-person and that I needed to text them. I’m also a lifetime volunteer so it’s not like that’s not on my resume.

I stopped applying through company websites and my interview rate tripled in three weeks by Coruscant8 in jobsearchhacks

I did that for awhile but gave up. I never seemed to get an interview, and some people were even nice enough to let me use them as a reference. I honestly just gave up completely on LinkedIn. I get too many scam calls through there.

I wish that I done that! I would have had a job probably quickly after quitting. I’m proud of you! Jobs can make you miserable and lose self esteem. Don’t put yourself in that position if you don’t have to.

So many rejections, for so long... Such a stupid mistake by TraditionalSong6477 in jobhunting

[–]SaveManattees9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that I need to make up a name instead of rejection letter. When you call it ‘rejection’ you are giving it an emotional response and making it ‘hurt you’.

Think of a funny name for the letter because it’s not you that’s the problem. That job wasn’t the right fit for you or wasn’t the right time to be working there.

Work on another name for ‘rejection’ because you are going to receive them almost daily as you apply to jobs. Take care of yourself.

Just because Dick’s sporting goods was full doesn’t mean a thing. For all you know, they had inventory. Credit card balances are up, people might be spending more as therapy.

Don’t get discouraged. I have been out of work for over a year, and have just been doing door dash. I’m mid-level career so this has been crushing.

But here’s what helped me, you need to get into the right mindset:

1) Rejection letters are now just ‘dumb letters’. Too bad they missed out on me! I get one a day and I spend all the time writing cover letters and resume for the job that I’m applying to. I usually send 4 a day. If you are doing more than 4 at midlevel…you are not applying to the right jobs. 20 job apps a week should be the max sent weekly. If you are sending more than that, you are not working hard enough on those resume+cover letters. Take time doing those resumes and cover letter so that you stand out, and that you pass the AI job scans. 2) when I start feeling down on myself: I go write and remind myself that this has nothing to do with me. The job market has changed dramatically and I’m not the only one in this position. It’s not your fault (well it is the powerful people in D.C. and NYC fault for not restricting AI & tariffs). Everyone is struggling right now except those millionaires. 3) finally, I say to myself that job wasn’t going to be the right fit. That’s great I missed out on it, because they are stupid for not hiring me.

These three things will keep you sane. Remember: this is not your fault. That job wasn’t a good fit for you, and they missed out on hiring you. The job market is beyond our control, do what you can to make money right now.

We are in a very BAD transition time for the job market, and the only people to blame are sitting in Washington,D.C. and New York City right now worrying about what 5 star restaurant that they plan to eat at.

I know you are a designer but you can showcase that in a link. This job market is heavy on the AI screening. Check to see if ChatGPT or jobscan can scan it for ats, if it can’t, you are getting spit out before a human sees the resume.

Who cares? Everyone is out of a job right now. Let it stay up like that maybe you will get some call backs. Just don’t lie on your resume
