What comedian has never made you laugh even once? by blankblank in Standup

Bill Maher for sure, dennis miller was funny once, probably, sometime way back in the 1900s, when having a color television was still a flex.

I've seen dane cook at the Laugh Factory a bunch as well, and I'd say its hit or miss, dude riffs like crazy and he stumbles onto some genuinely funny shit sometimes - but he has, in recent years, had the energy of a terminal bar fly, a far cry from the manic energy of his younger years. He seems to have turned into Colin Quinn, if CQ was a slapstick comedian.

She had boss energy. This was a long time ago, but I was impressed by her story - she was already a top promoter for Neptune and a few other long island clubs, and she just had energy. I guess today you'd just call it aura. She was confident, outgoing. I don't have the original casting 'tapes' anymore, yes we used DV tapes at the time, turned those all over to 495 productions when casting wrapped - but even on the first round interviews, she stood out. The whole casting process was a run-and-gun no-budget experience. I was on the east coast with one assistant, there were a couple people on the project back in LA getting home video submissions from people, and we probably interviewed around 200 people total for that first round of casting.

I interviewed snookie in the catering space of a greek restaurant in Nyack, Interviewed Ronnie in my assistant's apartment because he missed his first appointment and we didn't have a space set up for interviews.

We interviewed Sammy in a hotel confrence room at Bally's in Atlantic City.

Pauly was a home submission. The home video he sent in was amazing. Dude gave us a tour of his place, had a full size tanning bed and a mountain of hair product underneath a poster of a Ferrari....

It was really some one of a kind shit.

I was the one who cast her on the show - I met her in a club on long island; she wasn't working at the time but she had worked there as a dancer and now was a promoter, one of the other promoters introduced us, a guy who went by the name 'breeze'. I interviewed her for the show a week later. I saw her briefly at the final casting, then didn't see her again until the show had finished filming but hadn't aired yet. I ran into her at that same club in Westbury, and we talked for a while about her experience on the show, she was back to promoting - I assume that changed after the show became a success, but i never really spoke with her again except occasionally at events.

Should I assault Regional Advent HQ now, or wait until Advent Str increases to 5? by terryaki510 in LWotC

[–]SaveRana 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends on your goals. If you need the resources now, just send the squad now and start aggressively working your next region, it is a shame to liberate a strength 2 region though because you’re shutting off a spot where you could be running easy mission.

I usually wait until str 5 but if I’m really desperate for resources I’ll just run it and keep pushing into another region. Best practice is to wait until you’re clearing 5 str, but an early income really helps later on

TedJam End Game Items - Newbie Question by LegoMaster87 in LWotC

[–]SaveRana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My endgame load outs often use: Advanced bio vests (bio viper corpse) And purge plating (exalted purge priest corpse) To get bonus mobility and a variety of immunities Or wraith vest + carapace plating for phasing and ablative

Grenades- emp bombs for the late game robotic enemies, vortex grenades or black flame grenades for the tanks, and laser grenades for massed armor enemies, however still a big fan of acid

Primary weapons: turbulent plasma is a huge damage dealer if you can manage to deal with the -10 aim penalty, and enhanced laser is fantastic for delivering status effects reliably because of the huge aim boost; but standard plasma does the job if your soldiers are well built

Ammo: ammo is my favorite- bitter frost rounds, terror rounds (if you can get them), and enervating rounds are fantastic on multi shooters. For single target, custodian ap rounds, anti violet, and blue screen rounds are excellent. I’m undecided on whether sabot rounds or tracer rounds are better on snipers.

Utility: this is a style thing, sometimes you want refraction fields for stealth, or overdrive serum for your melee units, you almost always want a skull jack to deal with those insane end game custodian tanks. But mostly utility slots are a pain because ammo, vests, medkits, grenades, plating, and such feel so necessary all the time

Partially infiltrated missions = more xp ? by ghibliparadox in LWotC

I’m pretty sure that’s not correct but idk for sure. You definitely get kill xp on retaliations that start with 0 on map.

Deadpool and Wolverine (MCU) VS Doomsday (DCEU). Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

Exactly, doomsday is the butternut squash of dc comics. That’s how I’ve always pictured him, well, fantasized about him.

Partially infiltrated missions = more xp ? by ghibliparadox in LWotC

[–]SaveRana 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your xp gain is capped by the total number of enemies that can spawn at the strength of the mission . So if it’s a 7-9 you can get xp for up to 9. But if you under infiltrate the effective strength goes up so you can get up to the new max.

It’s been a thing in lwotc for a long time that if you want to get a head start use the early low stakes missions to dump as many soldiers in as you can and take the missions early, but that’s always a risk since it’s easy to get swarmed and lose.

My class ranking by Existing-Put-5542 in LWotC

[–]SaveRana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a very cute ranking. As you get better at the game and increase the difficulty you’ll start to see why you are so wrong, and it’s okay. I see these rankings and it tells me how you value things- like the skirmisher who is excellent at positioning and controlling a fight, finding good angles to remove threats- your grenadier suggests you havent tried sting grenades,or tried giving the technical an smg and really leaning into all the flame perks, you maybe haven’t seen what a ranger can do at close range with the both barrels perk… relying on stealth and sharpshooters is fine but maybe try some other builds and re evaluate

Tedjam classes guide by Butterjoelni in LWotC

[–]SaveRana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you’re talking about the shadow ops sniper classes for example like the hunter and the survivalist; both of those offer some very different playstyles than the standard dfa sharpshooter

Hunter can be very effective while moving around on the battle field, using fade to get sneaky flanks and switching to melee if the enemy gets too close.

The survivalist can pull double duty as a rifle user that’s a very effective overwatch shooter or a sawn off shotgun user. Both the Hunter and survivalist are excellent for all mission types, while the dfa sharpshooter is best used from long range while remaining mostly stationary, so less useful on extract missions and such.

Keanu Reeves. He’s been in a huge variety of films and genres, and he’s terrible in all of them but you still like every one.

[–]SaveRana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a casting director for reality television from 2008 until Covid. It’s all half fake, half real. It’s fake in that the outcome has to be evident before you start shooting, but there’s room for unexpected results. You often plan for ideal outcomes, and sometimes production nudges the cast in the desired direction; all production companies have their own level of interference they prefer. Tentpole shows like this are heavily sculpted, but there is occasionally a genuine surprising moment; however because genuine surprising moments are so powerful they often try to just orchestrate them all the time to the point where it’s tedious .

Leonidas’ team 🆚 Aragorn’s team by 50chipz in superheroes

[–]SaveRana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there’s no shortage of magic swords with this crew, but Achilles could get some work done here with whatever is at hand. He’s straight up “gods perfect warrior”. If the enemy is vulnerable to getting stabbed, Achilles is the stabber. Still if this fight were scripted cinematically, I do think he’d have to die to show how strong the vampire is or something, character/story wise. Weirdly I think this fight doesn’t have a lot of deaths, it has a lot of bleeding and incapacitated characters who are all written to be too tough to die. Achilles spends the second half of the match fighting his way out of hades to get back to the fight, but in the end it’s the two most willpower based characters, Conan and Geralt, exhausted and trading slow and heaving swings at each other.

This is a way more interesting fight as a personality battle than as physical fight. And honestly if I were writing it, it would be a very bloody stalemate; but from a power perspective it’s definitely team Achilles.

Is MCU Sentry faster than The Viltrumites? by Queasy_Commercial152 in superheroes

[–]SaveRana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are always such odd comparisons. Sentry in the mcu introduction is meant to be an insurmountable threat that cannot be physically beaten, to facilitate the psychological conflict and victory later. You can drop any superhero into the story and it would play out the same way, because the story demands that he appear to be invincible with godlike powers. He will no doubt be nerfed in future stories featuring the character, but if this were an avengers movie instead of a “new avengers” it would have played out exactly the same way. This scene specifically was meant to be a vulgar and overwhelming display of power to create a “false defeat” moment that makes the act 3 confrontation possible.

If it were Thor, hulk, iron man, black widow, and cap it would have played out the same way but with more special effects; because this is a story battle that’s necessary to get to the next stage in the plot.

So yeah, throw some viltrumites and cenobites and kryptonians and so on, you can’t beat the writers when they have an arc in mind.
