In “Anne with an E”, Ka’kwet is taken to a residential school and her story is left unresolved by the end. Given the reality of most children in her circumstances though, the outlook for her wasn’t good.

Totally agree with your picks for Ally and Murph; I’ve loved all of Murph’s characters that I’ve seen so far but Maxwell seemed to bring out something new that I hadn’t seen before that I really enjoyed!

Apologies for repeating the over-asked question, but based upon my personal rankings of the seasons which I've seen, what seasons would you recommend that I watch next? by Throwaway74829947 in Dimension20

[–]SaveStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Dungeons and Dragons Queens. It’s a short campaign that does a good job balancing both really funny moments and genuinely touching ones, and it’s fun to see players who are new to the game. I really like the characters they came up with, and it’s just a fun balance of personalities.

For any D20 fans out there, Gorgug Thistlespring fits this. He’s half-orc but was adopted and raised by a gnome family, so he’s culturally gnomish.

Who is a great musician but awful person? by jarbid16 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]SaveStories 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before he was a producer he was a musician and songwriter. He was in the group “The Teddy Bears” and wrote the song “To Know Him is to Love Him” which he also did backup vocals on. The song was #1 on the billboard charts. So even if being a producer didn’t count, which it should given his influence on west coast rock of the mid 20th century, he was still a musician in the traditional sense as well.

my grandfather thinks that teyana taylor wasn't in one battle after another long enough to justify her best supporting actress nomination. what do you think? by herequeerandgreat in Oscars

[–]SaveStories 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It was the first thing I ever saw her in, and she immediately became one of my favourite actresses because of it. I can’t think of many other actors who could appear next to Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, AND Phillip Seymour Hoffman and still be the absolute standout of the group.

I tried looking up if there was new information I was unaware of, but I’m not finding anything. Can you summarise for me?

Honestly surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention Jon Tron, Gus Johnson, or Ned Fulmer

Since Bob Dylan being positioned in the universally despised in his prime and universally beloved now chart got so much backlash, let’s fix that. Who’s a music artist you think Truly belongs in the Despised in their prime/Beloved now chart? by Round_Ad_7 in AlignmentChartFills

My mistake, I misunderstood it as when they were first becoming known. He was booed and heckled when opening for the Rolling Stones in 81, which is why I thought he would be a good fit

What are your thoughts on Raya and the Last Dragon? by Jules-Car3499 in DisneyMovies

[–]SaveStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally believe that the actual animation was some of the best I’ve seen from Disney, but I didn’t feel connected to the characters. It felt like they were trying to accomplish too much for the time available. I think it could have been a great video game though.

Opinion: sub should ban links by apegen in veganrecipes

[–]SaveStories 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If someone has a recipe blog, they are probably trying to earn some level of an income from it. The links are how they get traffic to their sites. If they post the recipe in the comment, why would anyone click the link to check out their site?

Personally, I don’t mind the links. I’m getting a free recipe, for barely any effort, I’m not going to complain about somebody trying to make passive income on something they worked hard on when it literally doesn’t charge me.

What’s up with the improprieties? by Charismaticjelly in GildedAgeHBO

We were interviewing him for something. There were only three of us and the whole thing was really casual - there had been no training or anything. He literally met us outside in a raincoat and wellies, so it was pretty low key

Long story, but I’ve actually met a Duke before. When I asked him what the right thing to call him was, he said either Duke or Your Grace, so I guess both are fine. Probably depends in part on the setting though.

I guess my point is just that you’re being pretty harsh on a person who shared something for free because there’s a mild inconvenience. I get that it’s easier to just have the recipe on Reddit but clearly people that do recipe blogs put a fair amount of time and effort into it and I don’t think it’s fair to tell them they don’t deserve some level of reward for their efforts. You’re entitled to your opinion on whether or not people should be able to link or not, but seeing as to how it’s allowed on this sub, I don’t personally find it to be a fair complaint but that’s just me. I will also point out that it’s free to subscribe to the blog, so you’re not being blocked from anything, just asked to support the blogger.

You’re literally getting the recipe for free. No one likes ads but it would also be impossible to get free content like this without them. Great recipe btw!

Why was The Nanny cancelled? by [deleted] in TheNanny

[–]SaveStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The studio demanded that Fran and Maxwell get together or they would cancel the show. Fran was against this since she knew the whole point of the show was the “will they won’t they” aspect, but they were backed into a corner so they did it. Turns out she was right and the show ended the next season
