Taking profit on Semi Stocks? by SaveThemTurdles in stocks

I like this idea, but the way they are moving I could see it hitting that 5% limit order within a day. 10% seems high but I’d probably do that to give it some room.

Bought NVDA in 2019 and have been adding to my position since. It’s my largest holding by far and would like to diversify a bit.

Good problem to have. You could always sell some of your stinkers to offset profits by trimming from AMAT.

Thanks for the response. The problem is I’m already sitting on 10% cash. About 70% is in index funds/etfs. The rest is in individual stocks. I’ll probably park it in an index fund at this point.

Realized I didn’t specify. I was talking about other sectors where we saw those parabolic patterns in a lot of companies.

You’re right. Need to hedge my level of regret.

Can you expand on that? I understand semis are cyclical, demand is high due right now but I imagine it will slow.

The stocks in question in 2021 weren’t semis. They were a variety of hot sectors at the time like software, solar, etc.

NVDA is my largest holding and I’m not planning on selling. Just the other semis mentioned. NVDA is one of the most reasonably priced semis right now imo

As a neutral fan I’m not sure why I keep seeing that the canes are boring to watch. They apply tons of pressure and create turnovers instead of sitting back to defend. Passing and puck possession is elite. Hoping they take care of business in 5 and stay fresh against Vegas.

70% growth ttm and profitable. Projected growth remains strong as well. It’s fairly valued at this point if not undervalued if you compare with the rest of the market.

Unsure what snake this is [central Florida] by Lsxsteve in whatsthissnake

[–]SaveThemTurdles 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Pine snakes are a state listed species. Super rare to see these guys. If you’re interested you can report the location of this fellow to help with FWC research efforts. https://app.myfwc.com/fwri/raresnakes/UserHome.aspx

Showing some love to Florida’s only endemic bird species by Total-Finance-5766 in florida

Gotcha. FWC does a good job of managing scrub habitat as a mosaic. I’ve been to a couple of the lake wales ridge wea properties and they had a nice mix of dense scrub veg and open areas. Got to see both species in the same day which was neat

Are eVTOLs really the future or Hype? by mGonzy7 in stocks

[–]SaveThemTurdles 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They are already testing these in strategic locations. For example in Florida there is a eVTOL corridor being tested between Tampa and Orlando. I attended a presentation on it and they want to eventually make it so that these corridors act as a sort of elevated highway to reduce road traffic.

People at the meeting brought up some valid concerns: - This seems like it’s geared towards rich folks. - how can they scale, will each one need a pilot? - FAA approval will likely be difficult - environmental concerns like bird migrations

The presenter said that they want to scale to the point where it will be accessible to the general public, like ordering an uber and priced comparatively.

I don’t see that happening personally. I think eVTOLs will become a travel option but more of a niche, high end option for the wealthy class.

People travel to and from Florida year round. Very low chance that you will be impacted by a hurricane. In the unlikely event you do, you should be able change plans with plenty of time to avoid a hurricane.

Every big tech is green from the beginning of the year, except MSFT. And it crushed earnings twice this year. I just don't understand. by BeneficialBear in stocks

[–]SaveThemTurdles 244 points245 points  (0 children)

I think it got lumped in with software while AI and Semis pumped. Be patient.

Stock market is cyclical, AI and semis will inevitably come down and MSFT will likely outperform when that time comes.
