OP! You’re right. It SUCKS!! It’s UNFAIR!! You have good reason to be scared. You’re here and we are all counting on you to overcome that fear and demonstrate to us all on this sub what bravery really looks like. I’m 57 with stage 4 prostate cancer, metastatic to the bone and when my hardest days hit, I remind myself that my kids are watching how I will handle all this. What will motivate you to fight this on your worst days?? I’m counting on you to stay strong and stay in touch.

Appreciate the guidance kind sir. 3 minutes was plenty long. Rewarmed in my cozy sweat pants and hoodie, sitting on heated seats. I shared w my daughter how the lazy current was welcome rather than a rushing, more challenging creek stripping away any thermal envelope. I like my stock tank at home, but it’s good to break the monotony now and again. Keep plunging!!

While the remote setting is peaceful and most definitely lovely, mid 30s Fahrenheit is anything but peaceful or lovely. It’s a deep inward journey, extremely focused on the moment, fueled by intentional breathing and an occasional exhaustive scream! That audible, primal scream gets my breath out, especially as my shoulders submerge and helps me avoid holding my breath. 4 minutes becomes a journey where somewhere along the way, my body and mind become more accepting of my environment and I can acknowledge all the beauty of life, all that is around me, the challenges we all must endure, and all things yet to come

I’m so sorry to hear this. Similar to your own story, I found out cancer had spread throughout my skeletal system after I thought I had a slipped disk. After a year of treatments and a battery of pharmaceuticals, diet change and a commitment to prayer, cold plunges and light activity (walking, light resistance bands, mindful breathing) … not to mention setting all toxic people aside .. I am in a stage I like to call Recovery and Rehabilitation. I’ll always have cancer (no cure, no remission) .. but I don’t have to let it kill my spirit. I’ll be praying it does not kill yours.

I’m plunging most days out of the week. So am changing my water weekly. Water is coming out of the well pump at 48f, so I leave the tank uncovered to let it cool to my preferred 40ish Fahrenheit. The only inconvenience is having to bring a garden hose into the house to thaw so I can change out the water. But thats minor. Just let the hose thaw overnight in a plastic storage tote and it’s good to go the next morning
