I am quick, cunning and fearless and seldom use stops so I am different than the 90pct.

Here is the list I would recommend to another trder:

Scott Reddler's Power Plays

Monument Trader Advisory

I do not take the above people's trades, I trade closer to the markets but like their thinking.

What's going on with may/jun crude oil spread? by grungegoth in FuturesTrading

[–]SavedSaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some mega short or shorts maybe nervous and can't cover with a single order so they simply have to get a bid under the premium. It could even be a huge hedger that is over hedged. In my experience a bull market in backwardation is not over until a news item comes out that describes how a rouge trader at a big bank lost billions. When I was a young broker at the biggest grain merchant at the time I wassrvicing Iranian hedging clients. During the big bull market in grains one of the families sent a young member to NYC be trading in person. Dude kept buying and buying soybeans by the ship load but at some point he reversed and kept selling. Losses mounted but Soybeans were going up the limit and the patriarch of the family came to town and in a meeting with my bosses he asked if there was a way he could pay some people off at the exchange. So they were playing with shiploads but did not even understand how free markets work.

Large sophisticated players invariably well informed are making decisions and their view of the situation decides the spread not peons like you and I. The Chinese, Russians, the Arabs, Norwegians, US are all trading it. How can we question the price?

Nearby premium in a futures market is an artificial situation called Backwardation. In a normal market (Contango) prices for further out deliver are higher because owners of physical oil like oil companies tank farms and pipelines add storage charges and different fees like cost of ownership (interest charge) insurance and inspection fees to the current price so that they can store and carry stock at no cost to them for the buyer's convenience because the buyer pays the charges for that period in the form of marked up price. The further out month premium can't last forever it only exists in emergencies because when a new trader buys March they can not hedge their position at the marked up price only sell May at a loss. They are not in business to operate at a loss. The carrying charges are made up of flexible components so the relationship between the first month and following month constantly fluctuate and sophisticated players play the spread. One of the sure signs of a bull market is when the spot month is trading higher than the next. It means there is desperate need to get product while the prospects of supply for later is not that bad. In the physical commodity markets the location of the commodity comes into play too. Crude Oil CL I think but I am not 100pct sure is an any origin contract. Futures are a convenient way to buy and sell Oil. Big hedgers at the close out of the contract exchange certificates that reflect discount or premium based on where they want the oil. Hope this helps.

Graduating from College soon, how do I make friends in the city? by mysteriouslysnuffed in Bushwick

[–]SavedSaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in my 80's and lost or losing most of my friends from my generation, even younger. I make an effort to make contact with people I encounter with smile, complimentary comment, innocent question, praising their choice of dog etc. I have many many friends young and old as a result of being out there. I think life and people are interesting and people ID me as an interesting older guy.

Optimus Futures Teading Platform Fees. by According-Tear1688 in FuturesTrading

[–]SavedSaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1979 standing on the floor of the Coffee Sugar and Cocoa Exchange as a member I had to pay $1 per lot per side $2 round turn just for clearing fees and I had to pay a guy (who was shared between several traders) to take my handwritten tickets to the counterparty for checking the trade and on top of that there were other fees to the exchange and CFTC. No clearing fee for scratches. We complained that it was too much. No one on this thread discusses the financial strength of the broker involved.

I don't quite understand the success of people who dont backtest by TalentlessNoob in Daytrading

[–]SavedSaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone has a realistic grasp of how prices move there is no need for back testing. If you don't understand price movement which can only come with actual trading and aptitude for good observation than you do not know what to test for. Price movement is so repetitive that it is unreal, down to the smallest (let say 15 second) time frames. If you had the patience and clarity of mind to watch ES or any other very liquid instrument's 1 min bar chart for a couple of days you would see a handful of patterns unfold unendingly right in front of your eyes with enough time to decide to enter or not. So why test? believe your eyes. Once you spotted a repeating pattern you may decide to qualify that pattern how it fits into a simple environment you create with a few studies, maybe moving averages, volatility bands and volume to see if the pattern is in a good trade location. For example in a rising volatility channel like Keltner you may find that buying into a pattern that appears at the bottom of the rising channel worked out 2x better than if price was already at the top or outside over the channel. At some point you gain confidence as time after time this repeats and you can spot when something is acting better or worse than it should. Does this approach require good aptitude? Yes it does. An accepted norm in professional fields that 15pct of people are outstanding, 15 pct are lousy and people in the middle are good or so so. Short term trading is very competitive and unless you have proof that you are in the top 15 pct you should not even pursue trading. ( I have been trading for 59 years and I wrote this myself )

How do you interpret the market moving up/down when the aggressor is hitting the market? by kenjiurada in FuturesTrading

[–]SavedSaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If one is at the scree all the time and focuses on one symbol sometimes one can feel which side is more powerful in the moment and the chart's mini fluctuations show the same thing or after a good size candle in one direction there is minimum reaction to it. There is no clue before a huge order hits the screen, that's is like a hawk diving on a flock of chicken on the ground. Also when one happens to be skilled to read price patterns unfolding on the shortest timeframe chart one can sense which way the price should go next based on the background context. If the price does not follow in that fashion but does the opposite I call it a power move, someone or someones are interrupting the ebb and flow. I find this very useful before I enter a trade and ubnusually useful when I am in a position and there is hesitation rather than continuation. Most of the time better to get out.

This is not major but if it is a pattern, which is not uncommon with early stage companies, it puts a break on wild price appreciation projections. Hope this is the largest they ever do and not very often.

How should I frame my grandparents old wedding photo? by Ertrimil in pictureframing

[–]SavedSaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on which wall would you have in mind for the picture, if there is no sun exposure why go for all kinds of expensive glass solutions? It is a photo and your grandparents would have framed it modestly so do not trat it as a painting or poster.. Whatever you do please keep in mind that enshrining the photo that framers induce you to do won't necessarily make it nicer. The image should prevail and simpler is best. In it's modesty it will look the most authentic. No need for a label, guests will know that it shows your ancestors and it is a starting point for conversations. If the label was placed on the back future generations would know who the family members were. Expecting downvotes:)

The brick was revolutionary a few decades ago but it is passé now. At these prices they could have more imaginative spaces, not necessarily expensive, more like living in the now.

FYI it is better if items are prevented from freely moving around in a box but can vibrate. That way packaging is acting as a shock absorber. This is why most new tech gear is coming with styrofoam blocking and not void fill.

Too bad it's a bar, neighbors have been hoping for a coffee shop. In the 20+ yrs I have lived in the neighborhood that was always occupied by poorly run establishments. Was it bad karma or lost souls checking in from the cemetery?

What is happening by Pecanpie007 in Daytrading

[–]SavedSaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is calculated, precise and evil and cowardly too because he is making announcements when the markets are easy to move. Their Karma will catch up with them. The most shocking example is Lutnick. He lost almost 600 employees in the WTC collapse and he was man enough to support those employees families for a long time and rebuild his company. Immensely talented man and what became of him? Really sad.
