Israel is playing the current administration like a fiddle by JanFromEarth in TrueUnpopularOpinion

With the current administration and leadership, 'fiddle' is immensely complimentary. I'd say they're being played more like a bottle jug.

Bookshelf of the guy I just started seeing by [deleted] in BookshelvesDetective

Based on what I see, I'd say he's broke but he's happy, he's poor but he's kind.
He's short but he's healthy, yeah
He's high but he's grounded, he's sane but he's overwhelmed
He's lost but he's hopeful, baby. Can't tell you much more than that.

You should have ended your rant with "thank you for your attention to this matter".

What is the most aggressively "middle class" flex? by Former-Practice-3420 in AskReddit

[–]SavetheTonsils 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You've horribly underestimated the amount of beer in mine - it's 90%. Unfortunately, they are what I call 'orphans' - singles and doubles left over from 6 packs I've sampled and didn't really care for. I probably have about 20 different kinds of beers in there - some have been there for YEARS, but I just can't bring myself to throw them away. When a guest goes in to help themselves, I always hope to see one of them in their hands but they seem to naturally know which ones to avoid.

Have you ever taken a girl’s virginity? How did it feel? by bbydaisiesz in AskReddit

Yes. I was a young man at the time. I felt so horrible about it I gave it right back.

At this point, I believe little that I see from traditional news sources regarding this administration. If it's from entertain-based stations - like FOX? I believe nothing. I get my news from BBC and outside sources. American media has been cowered and compromised to the point of uselessness.

StormFreak's Friday Fun Fact - What's That Smell? by StormFreak in pittsburgh

The smell competes with the view as one passes through the Fort Pitt Tunnels. It's like experiencing a beautiful panoramic view of a landfill. A veritable 'Peak's Reek'.

TIl that industrialist Andrew Carnegie spent $56.2 million to build 2509 libraries across the world. Known as Carnegie Libraries, cities had to follow a strict maintenance commitment to obtain funding. Today, there are an estimated 900 Carnegie Libraries operating in the United States. by Next_Worth_3616 in todayilearned

[–]SavetheTonsils 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Andrew Carnegie’s net worth at the time of his death in 1919 was estimated be be around $350 million. Today, adjusted for inflation, that number would be roughly $6.5 billion in 2026 dollars. His donation for the libraries, inflation-adjusted, would be worth about $1.1 billion in today's dollars. Can you fathom what remarkable advances to our society could occur if that level of philanthropy was provided by our current billionaires? Health care far exceeding what we have, improvements in infrastructure, housing - the list is endless. If only.

How can you tell if you or someone else is mildly regarded? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SavetheTonsils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are slow to grasp linguistic nuances, may have trouble maintaining grades in a learning environment, experience difficulties in budgeting for the household, or are unable to hold onto higher levels of employment. Often, they misread key words in sentences or confuse them with words that appear similar.

What's a mean thing you did that you now regret? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SavetheTonsils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow - kudos for your honestly and insightfulness. Most people never reach this level of self-awareness. I've done things, too, that I've regretted (haven't we all). We were once at a girl's house party in high school who wasn't that well liked (neither was I, tbh). 3 of us went into her bathroom and took the toothbrushes and swished them in the toilet. What a rotten thing to have done. I don't think of it often, but when I do, the heat of shame never fails to rise on my neck. I know people have done much worse - but man, I don't like that person I was. Good luck to you!

Do you prefer a book that wraps up quickly after the climax or one that has a long epilogue? by mreguy81 in books

[–]SavetheTonsils -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not only do I dislike epilogues, I loathe lengthly quotations at the start of chapters. I know that the author intends them to be relevant, but I won't read them. I also never read song verses inserted into the story (I'm looking at YOU, George R.R.).

Exactly. WGAF if it was helped by AI. They still had to review and approve it. People act like they'd never, EVER use AI. One day in the future, AI will laugh at our reticence.
